"That obvious, huh?" Tim asked, and sipped the coffee. The question didn't really need an answer. And paying attention the drink first was a clear stalling tactic -- but he glanced up to make slightly-guilty eye contact after a moment, indicating that he knew it.
"It's been a weird few months," he said, his standard non-answer, but then continued. "I just... I don't know. I could probably be teaching the criminology courses I'm taking. Give me a map and a basic psych profile and I can chart likely heist targets in my sleep. Give me five minutes at a crime scene and I can give a decent profile, and a better forensic examination than the police lab has now. I'm a good detective. I understand the way people think."
There was a pause, and another sigh.
"But ask me what I'm supposed to do when a date's not going as well as I hoped..."
