Since the station's new clerk was released, I guess public service announcements are up to me again.

New Moore's Chief of Police is still missing. Word has come down from island officials that they plan to replace him with Interim Chief Halder, a bureaucrat and paper-pusher whose primary qualification seems to be that he's not a resident of this island, i.e., the brass believes he actually exists.

With no consultation of the existing department, no chance for advancement of loyal, experienced officers, no due elections process, and no guarantee that this guy will actually give a shit about what happens to local citizens, stress at the precinct is extremely high.

Unfortunately, acute stress weakens the immune system, and we have a record number of officers calling in with sudden illnesses today. I, for one, welcome our new overl – Chief, and wish him the best of luck in scheduling officers to cover relevant beats and navigating office paperwork. Just as soon as he comes into the office, I'll be sure to –

 

[Shepard's voice suddenly breaks down into a series of extremely fake coughs.]
