I thought you might. She has a habit of finding the local law and offering her arm to help keep things in line. How well would you say she was settling in during that time?

She was pretty stoic. That made it a little hard to tell.

Then she was gone. Is there much a way of telling the difference between, say, a kidnapping here, versus someone leaving for parts unknown?

Thankfully, yes. The police department receives a notice when someone is 'released.' If they're kidnapped or vanish for other reasons, obviously, there's no notification.

Unfortunately, we've had plenty of reasons to learn to tel the difference.

Nobody I've ever met. They just flag our files when it happens. In fact, everyone in charge of running this city stays behind the scenes. Best guess is you might have talked to some of them during your entrance interviews in the hospital.
