You have to understand... it isn't that Jack is wrong about him, but there's more to his story than that. He's a brilliant, gifted man, and very tormented. Not... entirely sane.

Did he really do all those things Jack says he did?

Yes. And more, so much more that Jack never saw. But he can be so much better than this, as well. He used to be, a long, loooong time ago.

If you think so, then I believe you. He really doesn't seem all that bad to me. I mean... he can be a little odd sometimes, but he really does a good job and I just don't understand.

Yes. He's very clever about showing people the only side of himself he wants them to see. But it's important to remember, of course, that that side is there too... Jack forgets it, which is understandable, but I don't think you will. Just remember that the darker side is there, too.

He took this job to make something of it, but it's my hope that it will make something of him, too.

Well. Another question, I suppose.

Could you tell that he was a Time Lord?

He felt the same way you do. I wasn't positive, but I kind of figured he was.

I know Jack and Donna really don't like him, and he makes a few people nervous, but he doesn't... He never felt evil or anything. It's just hard to imagine him doing such terrible things.

It's not... I mean... is that a Time Lord thing or just him?

Well. Rather a mixed bag, Time Lords. Great potential and great power always means either great good or great evil, and our people definitely had both.

Great arrogance, too, for that matter.
