[The screen is a little tilted, but the image is clear:]

[The wolf stares for a moment, then turns leisurely and vanishes into a den behind. The screen lowers awkwardly, and gets dropped at the last moment. It clatters to the ground, staring up into a large white face. The new wolf somehow manages to stand the device up so that it stares in the direction of the den. A soft whining comes from off-screen, and a pile of pups comes tumbling out, all large paws and yips and wagging tails. Four or five little bodies bumble around the camera, enthusiastically greeting the white wolf. She gently herds them all away from the camera and viewers are treated to a good half-hour of rough-housing wolf pups overseen by playful, indulgent adults. Finally the largest wolf wanders over and nudges the device, turning it off.]

[The scan turns up negative - whether that's reassuring or not.]

(Oh, look, wolves! Ah, reminds me of the good old dangerous times with Moony. Just with much less puppies.

But this video is greeted with another of a large, black, shaggy dog who is sitting in front of the screen, wagging his tail. He barks cheerfully.)

[The white wolf is back, alone in a different glade, staring with large green eyes. She has her tail pulled in close around her toes, sitting very straight. She's just looking into the camera, very calmly, making no noise and not really moving until she tips her head very slightly to one side in an imperious question.]

(Sirius responds by straightening himself up so that he's matching the wolf's demeanor. Yet his tongue is still rolling out, and the tip of his tail thumps quietly next to him. He barks cheerfully once, then tilts his head in the opposite direction.)

[The wolf huffs softly in amusement, and lets a pink tongue loll in a brief doggy grin. She thumps her tail once, then looks around and raises her long nose to sniff the air before looking back at him and crooning a softer version of the "report" howl.]

(Sirius' tail thumps a bit more quickly at the doggy grin, but then stops at the howl. He whines quietly and huffs while shaking his head. Not much, really.)

[She considers this briefly, and her body language clearly asks if he is friend or foe to her pack.]

(He barks twice and lays down, his tail wagging. Friend, of course!)

[She lowered her chin to bare large fangs and momentarily raised her hackles in an understated show of dominance. But then smoothed down her fur and settled back comfortably, thumping her tail in easy acceptance. She swings her muzzle, indicating the glade and surrounding forest, then looks back to him, asking if he'll come visit.]

Looks like you made some friends, Aisling! How sweet!

We've met before, but this is one of the first chances I've had to come play. They haven't been outside much. I don't think they're ready to meet new people yet, though.

There's nothing wrong with that. Glad to see there's some normal animals out there... Puts me at ease a little.

Oh, there are plenty of animals! All sorts of birds, insects, frogs, and lizards, and snakes... Hunters and grazers!

What else are you finding out there? Anything out of the ordinary?

There are some animals that I don't know... But they seem like they fit the area better. Even the wolves are a bit different from what I know. No monsters, though.

I've been bringing things in... Ianto said he'd cat-a-log them and show them to you.

Did he? That's sweet of him. And of you as well. Don't go getting yourself hurt now, Aisling. I worry sometimes.

Don't worry! I'm careful! Most of the time things don't see me, and I always look before I go into a place. I only eat things I know are safe.

I've been... on my own for a while now.

And you must be very good at surviving. You're very brave, you know that?

I know my way around a forest.

[Ha... listen to her carefully avoiding that whole bravery thing.]

Does it feel like 'Your' forest yet?

No. Too many places I haven't seen, that I don't know. Too many creatures I'm not friends with yet. Too many strange things - trees, animals, sounds... It won't ever be my forest. But I'll protect it like it is.

And that's very noble of you. I'm certain that the forest appreciates it.

Some areas seem to be thriving again, which is good. Some need some special care. There's still a lot to be done. But there's also lots to explore! Lots of voices to talk to.

The city is full of voices too, but I don't understand them all.

Is there anything that I can do to help?

Everything is so strange there. Not at all like the abbey, or my village. I found that sweet shop, once, but then it was all closed up the next time I went.

Strange. Well, you know Ianto's shop is always welcome to you. Maybe I can convince him to start stocking pastries soon.

I come to see him from time to time! He's always very nice. He said he'd find me some marshmallow sweets sometime. And whipped cream!

Lucky you! I think you'll really like them. The whipped cream and marshmallows are both really good on hot chocolate. You liked that last time, didn't you?

Mmhmm! I like chocolate. It's sweeter than honey! [So strange and lovely! She didn't think anything could be sweeter than that.] The hard kind melts... Do you think it could be put on bread?

Sure. They've got kind you can spread. In fact, you can eat it between two pieces of bread with spreadable marshmallows too. It's too sweet for me, but I think it might be right up your alley. Remind me to make it for you sometime, okay?

Spreadable marshmallow sweets? I'd like to taste that. Tell me when, and I'll bring you something.

Certainly. And whenever you're ready, we'll have the coffee shop door open for you. You don't have to call or anything. We'll see you.

All right. You both like lots of things. Do you have favorite things?

Of course I do. But my favourite thing is being surrounded by the people I love.

Well of course, but you can do that all the time! Aren't there things that you don't always have?
