Avenger Pets Asembark
The last touch to the bird cage that's been in Tony's room the past 2 days is a tiny symbol on the handle for opening it. A familiar Shield with a star in the center. It's got a name plate that reads Captain Pudgy. The name is ridiculous. But then again, so was Bucktooth Barns and Tony just found the names more amusing that way. He was not even sure Rogers kept the rabbit's name.
Tony is sure he can still remember the smile on the Cap's face when he was holding that rabbit though, and he allows himself a smile at the thought. He checks the handle one more time, making sure it's attached securely now that the metal has cooled again. There's a chirping and fluttering from the smaller cage to his left and he cocks his head at it, regarding the bird with a thoughtful look.
He actually knows the least about Barnes of any of their ragtag bunch of heroic misfits, but what he does know of him, he likes. Bucky has a lot of spirit, and anyone capable of keeping up with Natasha- well.
Tony can admit when he's a little impressed, maybe.
He checks with JARVIS as he moves the bird to it's new home. Barnes is out of his room, and it's Tony's cue to drop off the newest addition to the Avenger Tower. No one may ever know the real reasons behind Tony's apparent sudden interest in making the tower a petting zoo, but they were, for once, not done with selfish motive. Something he intended to keep to himself.
He had a reputation to keep.
When Bucky Barnes did return to his room, he would find Captain Pudgy sitting in his cage, waiting for him.
No notes, no explanations. Just a blue and white budgie in a bird cage, with a tiny shield adorning the door.
