[When the feed turns on, Jack's face appears clear as day, his face grave, fiercely dramatic, and he looks absolutely livid, despite his hard, yet steady breathing.]

To the people who took the most important person in the world to me. You have no idea what you have just done. You've severely pissed off someone who cannot die. Someone who will not stop until he's had what he wants back with interest. I will find him. And I will find you. If you've ever wanted to see a desperate man, oh ho... You've got one now.

[He lifts his hand into view, just in time to load a clip into his pistol and show it to the camera.]

For your sake, you had better hope that I find him alive and well without a single goddamn scratch on him, and that the police find you before I do. You have not made a friend in me. You have made me very, very desperate, and a deadly, deadly enemy.

[The feed turns black]

Text Messages to The Doctors

I'm sorry to have to resort to these measures. Don't try to reason with me, it won't work. If I find them, I cannot say they'll survive the encounter. Any help that you can provide would help me immensely, and in turn, may help their chances.

Tim. I've already given you your assignment. If you can establish communication, get the police on as quickly as you can. I don't fully trust them, but I need as many eyes and ears out as I can. Natasha, I know you're busy after what happened over the weekend at your place, but I need you out getting information. If you can get any of your buddies in on this too, that would be ideal. Gwen. I need you out on the streets looking for anything familiar from the camera feed and listening to voices. Do you know if Ianto had anyone suspicious in the shop lately? Outside it?

Please. I just... I need him safe.

Text to Mr. Sherlock Holmes via John Watson. Don't ask how we got the number.

This is Captain Jack Harkness. I need your help finding a missing person. People say that you're good at that sort of thing, and I need good right now. I am fully prepared to compensate you for your time and effort.

My tools. My rules.

We don't have time for this argument. Tell me I can trust you, Jack. Swear you won't use lethal force except in self-defense and I can restore access.

Lie to me, and...

I trust you, Jack. Don't lie to me. I don't want to do this.

You told me when you had me shut down your file that I needed to give trust to get it. Jack, if anyone else on this island was delivering death threats to kidnappers and bringing a gun to a hostage situation, I wouldn't be talking anymore.

It's not just about my rules. Kidnappers are fundamentally insecure. They know how unstable the situation they're in is. The minute they feel under pressure they cut their liabilities and run.

Computer, Recognize User. Initiate remote protocol Tau Upsilon Rho.

There. You're back online.

When we find them, Jack, you shouldn't be fighting them. You should be getting in between them and Ianto. If they start shooting, he can't dodge and I have to. You don't.

The cameras can run gait recognition. Make sure we don't have a record of where he was seen last. Check to see where his routine would usually put him around this time.

After that, check the vehicle registry for unmarked vans. Criminals aren't creative. If they planned a snatch and grab, they had a nondescript van or a four-door pickup with a topper on the back. Cross-reference those names with employment records for anyone recently laid off or making under thirty-five thousand a year. Match that with Jenny's old record of prior arrests and offenses for petty crimes.

That's our shortlist. There's about a seventy-five percent chance one of the offenders is on the list, and on an island this size it shouldn't be over a dozen names.

The shooter was in charge, and not significantly overweight, judging by the timbre of the voice. Whoever stomped on the phone wasn't overweight, either. Shoe size is too middle-of-the-road to guess height. And neither of them was the driver. Three people, maybe four. Probably three, though.

The leader is a white man between the ages of thirty-five and fifty.

No, better make it thirty and fifty. The van belongs to either him, or the driver.

Looking at the scene now... three sets of footprints. Two male... one female. The driver was a woman, but she got out to watch. No priors for her.

The lead male was five eight or five nine, judging by footprints. The stomper... six two.

Two shell casings, .357 Magnum.

And... blood. venal, not arterial, not enough that we need to worry too much... judging by the spatter, the leg. They wanted to make sure he couldn't run.

And whoever it is isn't a very good shot.

Dammit. I'm sorry, Jack, something about the profile is off. We're definitely looking at a van and not a pick-up, though.

It's outside my camera coverage area. And something about the people doesn't match the profile. So we look at nondescript vans with owners on the outskirts of town, and we canvass. Somebody's neighbors may have seen something.

I'll start trying to work the angles, figure out what we're missing, but until we have more data, that's the best we're going to get.
