forward dated to dec 25th
WHO: Jack Harkness & Ianto Jones
WHAT: It's date night
WHEN: Dec. 25th, Christmas
WARNINGS: None, except for that it's kinda gay.
Things were always so chaotic in New Moore with the spontaneous events that seemed to crop up every now and then. Now that his memory was back, and Ianto's as well, Jack decided it would be a good time to spend some time with his love and not think about work, not think about strange behaviour, and certainly not think about anything not having to do with spoiling Ianto Jones with affection for one evening. He couldn't even remember the last time the two of them had actually had a proper date and Christmas seemed like the best time for it.
It was evening, just about time for New Brew to close out its till for the day, and Jack was in the living quarters that he shared with Ianto, freshly showered and shaved and checking his new suit in the mirror and fixing his tie. Who invented these stupid things anyway? Deciding that his slightly-wonky knot was good enough, he checked his pockets for the things he needed and left to meet his handsome date in the coffee shop, leaving the heavy blue coat and gun behind.

He was a mess, and he knew it. It was just a date with Jack, but it had him flustered enough that it may as well have been his first date. Jack had a way of getting under his shell and leaving him flushed, with his stomach doing fits.
When his lover finally emerged from the warehouse, Ianto smiled, one of his rarely genuine little smiles and walked over to fix the hopeless Captain's tie, smoothing over it when he was done to rid it of wrinkles.
"Happy Christmas, Jack..."

"Happy Christmas, Ianto Jones." He spends a moment admiring his lover's face. He'd been here nearly a whole year now... a whole year longer than he was even supposed to be alive. With the two of them living so comfortably, so domestically, it was sometimes difficult to take it for granted. But it was moment's like those, seeing that sparkle in his eyes, that sweet smile and the way his cheeks just rounded so perfectly when he did... he could truly be reminded how lucky he was.
He let his hands slide off him and he stepped back a little, sweeping an arm over himself. "What do you think? Clean up pretty nicely, don'tcha think? I'm a little surprised. I can't even remember the last time I wore a suit. Been decades at least."

Ianto had that tiny little twist of a smile as he said it, looking over Jack's attire with something between appraisal and amusement. Jack always looked good, but there was something about a suit and tie that seemed... almost out of place. It didn't seem like the sort of thing Jack aught to be wearing. But that did not make him look any less amazing in it.
Ianto had always had a keen appreciation of being well-dressed. Still. He did prefer that old army coat of Jack's. It was almost a part of him.
"I think you might fool one or two people into believing you belong in it."

Ianto's slight smile quirked at the edge of his lips as he ducked his head down a bit. Then he kissed the other man back, hands resting on his hips for a few too brief moments.
"We should be going. Wouldn't want to be late for our reservation.

"So did you have fun being someone new for a few days?" He asked as they stepped outside into the lightly falling snow. "When everyone lost their memories, I mean." He laughed a little and smiled over at Ianto. "And for the record, I'm not upset. I think it's cute. Just wish I'd been there to see how you two got on without me."

Ianto slipped his arm into Jack's as they walked, and that in itself was a gesture sure to prove how far out of his reserved casing he was coming for this date. He was on a genuine date with Jack, and it was quite honestly all he could have wanted at the moment. A chance to believe, for a while at least, that he and Jack had a normal relationship. That there was not going to be a time when Jack kept going and Ianto did not.
"Where are we off to, then?"
As if Ianto didn't already know. He really just wanted to change the subject.

"The Four Saisons. Only the best for you on Christmas. I've left my phone on silent and I'm not going to answer it for anything barring an explosion or mind control." Both possible here. Once the two of them had reached the street, he lifted his arm to call for a cab to take them the rest of the way into the centre of town.

It was good he had his sense of humor back. He had been a bit out of sorts with all the fuss between Tim and Jack and then the amnesia... incident with Gwen. Or the kiss with the Doctor.
December had not been smooth for Ianto Jones.

"I'm glad you're feeling better, though. I don't like to see you so upset, you know? Makes me think I'm not doing a good enough job keeping you happy. Or at least not providing adequate distraction."
