[ She feels like both could be possible on account of time traveling. ]

Both! There's a younger-looking fella, floppy hair, bow tie, goes by the Doctor. He's me but older.

Long ago and far away. One of the advantages of time travel.

Traveling must be fun. Until now I couldn't even leave Sunnydale.

... Sunnydale?

[stillpretty]

It's in California. It's where I'm from. I mean, I lived in LA before that but we moved to Sunnydale and there's a whole host of reasons that I really need to get back there even now.

I know of a Sunnyvale, must be one of those differences between universes.

Other universes sound pretty lucky.

[ For not having to have a place built on a Hellmouth. Moving right along- ]

Sunnyvale's a place here, too. Just, you know, in addition.

Why the hurry to get back?

[stillpretty]

Hey, you never know. The world might end without me.

[ She says it like it's a joke. ]

Nah, you'd be returned to the point in time you were taken from. Things would get too unstable otherwise, too volatile.

[stillpretty]

I come from a place like's a big fan of volatile instability. Normal rules don't always apply.

I don't mean just your world. Trust me, nothing will end while you're gone, unless you're meant to be gone. If you remember dying, for instance, it might end while you're gone.

[stillpretty]

Only once and I got better.

[ A brief beat. ]

I just mean Sunnydale's a little.. different. You know, nevermind. You're probably right. [ She really doesn't have to go into this, it's best to just avoid it. ]

Tell me about it, I love different. Keeps me from getting bored.

[stillpretty]

It's not a good different.

[ She's obviously not too keen to say. Even if this place is strange, the Hellmouth's a lot more dangerous on top of the weird. Now that it's out she can at least say something that's on public record though. ]

It's probably got the highest rate of unexplained deaths of anywhere, for example. Twelve cemeteries within city limits and it is not a big city.

[ The Doctor sounds pretty oblivious to Buffy's reluctance, he sounds pretty chipper. Trouble is fun for him. ]

I'd say underground alien invasion. But yours being a different world, name like Sunnydale, cemeteries. Guessing vampires. Maybe werewolves and zombies too, just vampires would be too dull.

[ ..Yeah this whole secret thing isn't working. Well, she doesn't have to tell him about her role in it. ]

Vampires yes, werewolves are harmless all but 3 nights out of the month and are humans the rest of the time, and zombies are only harmful if the person who raised them is a jerk. Couple that with demons, magic, any supernatural anything you can ever think of and recently weird commando guys, all on top of a Hellmouth that acts as a center of mystical convergence and "dull" is the opposite of what it is.

[ A pause. ] Except leprechauns. Leprechauns aren't real.

They do exist. Never play cards with them, almost lost my TARDIS playing against one once.
