I'm not even going to attempt to understand why a massive nuclear furnace composed of stellar gases would have a face under any circumstances. Instead, I'm going to note that even though there are people from dozens of alternate worlds present, including some who have seen the suns on many alien worlds, you're absolutely the first person who thought that it was strange that the sun didn't have a face.

And there's nothing wrong with that! People can't control their backgrounds or circumstances, and if it's normal for two octillion tons of hydrogen to have a face where you come from, there's no issue with that.

Here, however, the sun has never had a face, the man in the moon is purely a piece of rhetorical invention, and there's nothing strange or inconsistent about it.
