[Log]

Who: Aqua and you!
What: Aqua needs to clear her head and figure out what's going on. It's a day after she arrived on the island.
When: Backdated to 6/17
Where: Going from the city to the beach.
Warnings: Anyone can tag in, the more the merrier! Though be prepared for Aqua to be a little angsty over what she's been told. She's trying to sort everything out. Oh! And possibility of her using magics?

-------------------------------------------------------

It was strange being in a place where light was real. Where she could feel the sun's rays on her face, feel the warmth of it and know it was real. Aqua wasn't using her imagination keep her mind distracted from the world around her. Nothing was made completely of shadows or made to be a mockery of the actual world. The Dark Meridian was the perfect example of that; a beach with a palm tree and water that lapped against the shore. It seemed nice, but it was nothing more than a façade.

But there's not time for her to relax or enjoy what's around her. The fact she was dragged out of the Realm of Darkness and placed in a strange new world gives her cause to worry. Then there was the fact that others from different worlds were her, including Riku. From talking to him and others, she's learned some of what's happened since she sacrificed herself for her friends--something she was willing to do again if necessary. There is one person she never thought she'd hear of again, Vanitas.

He was destroyed and yet she was told there were Floods on the island. And a lion... How could she possibly forget there was a wild animal roaming about? It wasn't high on her list of priorities. If need be she could cast a sleep spell on it and move along. She needed to clear her head and being in a room wouldn't help.

Aqua began to wander the island intent on heading out of the city and towards the beaches. Hopefully she'd calm down or think of a plan.

--Or get attacked by Unversed, either way.

It's as she reaches the city's outskirts, that they appear. Three flying Blue Sea Salts and a single Tank Toppler, no more than four yards ahead of her on the street.

As soon as they materialize, they turn their attention to her, Sea Salts darting forward the pepper the area around her with ice spells, while the Tank rolls up behind them, covering them from the back.

There's no sign of the masked boy, even after she attempts to call him out. Two of the Blue Salts spin away and ignite into dark flame, signalling their end. But the third manages to skirt her spell and zip away, circling behind the Tank, which is now coming up fast.

It rights itself and immediately lunges toward her, propelling itself body-first like a round battering ram.

Still, silence. With the Unversed gone, all that remains is the faint sound of the wind blowing through the buildings and distant town-noise. All the animals and birds in the area have gone oddly silent, as if their voices were all snuffed out at once.

Then, they appear.

Small blue heads poking over the rooftops, red eyes glaring down at the Keyblade Master with vengeful gleam. Not just one, or five, or even a dozen... their numbers easily quadruple that as the Floods all crowd around each other from the buildings on either side of where she stands.

As soon as she starts running, it's like a bell to a line of greyhounds. The Floods all charge as one mass, running and dodging off the rooftops and down the sides of the buildings they'd been perched on, pursuing her with relentless speed. And they keep pouring in, from every corner of the town, all concentrating into this one area--apparently even with as many as they'd killed, Vanitas had had plenty of opportunity to respawn every single one of them.

And they were all now on Aqua's heels.

Rest assured, their Master wasn't far off, either. But for now he continued to keep himself hidden, moving swiftly but silently through the shadows between buildings to conceal his presence.

So many defeated at once sends a twinge through him, like a small spasm of his muscles. It stings, but Vanitas has felt pain before--plenty of it--so it's easy for him to shrug it away and draw on more of his emotions. It's a little draining to keep churning out this many Unversed for very long, but he's anything if not tenacious.

Because his plan is to wear his opponent down as much as possible, before he dives into the fray. It's cheating, but he really doesn't care, because this time he's taking out all the stops in an effort to get rid of Master Aqua once and for all.

The battle rages for a good twenty to thirty minutes, before he finally lets up on the assault, and enters into a corridor of Darkness. Exiting on the shore where, if all goes right, is somewhere at her back, Keyblade already in hand.
showmeanguish: (That points to you.)

"Miss me already?"

But other than that rebuttal, he doesn't waste time talking. That's been his mistake in the past, and if he wants to keep the element of surprise, he has to continue to act swiftly and without warning.

So before he's even uttered the last syllable of that, he brings his weapon forward and casts Blizzaga into the wave cresting at her feet, aiming to freeze it solid around her if it connects properly.

It cancels out, but misses hitting him, as he strafes to the side. "For you, maybe."

Then, he disappears from view again, backing into a portal. It opens again at her side, as he lunges out of it and swings Void Gear in a series of blows, ending with a slashing arc of energy.

It manages to catch his empty arm, and staggers him back a couple steps, further up onto the beach. But he compensates by cartwheeling to the side to keep himself a moving target; she won't get any easy shots in.

Her urging goes ignored, as he next sends a Dark Thundaga her way, whipping up sand and ocean spray as the lightning instantly vaporizes the surf.
showmeanguish: (In every way)

They do, at least for now. With a pained sound the last hit flings him further up the shore, where he rolls to a stop on his back.

But he's not down for more than a couple seconds, before he springs back to his feet with a swing of his legs for momentum. And stands there, breathing a bit harder than usual and glaring through his helmet's visor.

Stubbornness makes him continue; she got lucky with that last attack, that's all. Raising his Keyblade again, he throws spell after spell at her, his strategy momentarily flying out the window as he's blinded by anger. Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga... he dishes them all out one after the other, before he sinks into the ground and attempts to blind-side her again from below.
showmeanguish: (Break your resolve.)

It's an accurate observation--he can be patient to a degree, that's where he and his Master differ greatly in personality. Frustration fuels his impatient side, and makes him slip up.

Like now, when he sees that attack too late to avoid it. It comes on the heels of his own Firaga spell, before he's hit full in the chest with it, freezing him solid with Void Gear griped in both hands before him.
showmeanguish: (To get me through)

[personal profile] showmeanguish 2013-07-03 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
When the spell wears off, he unfreezes and skirts himself back, arm raising his Keyblade into striking position again. But he doesn't attack, again, believe it or not.

Instead, he retorts, voice with a hard, deadly edge to it. "My name isn't 'Van', and if you call me that again, I'll see to it that everyone you love dies choking in their own blood."

Yeah, that would be a no, none of what she just said got through to him. But he knows the fight is futile, now, and isn't about to waste any more time or energy on it. He's lost the element of surprise, and a draw is better than another loss. "This isn't over. It'll never be over, until I say it is. Got it?"

And with that, he opens another portal and ducks back into it, closing it behind him before she has a chance to follow.

Carol recognizes a newbie look when she sees it. She knows how that feels so she lands and taps her gently on the shoulder.

"Hey, is there something I can help you with?"

Carol doesn't need powers to see the tightening of the woman's shoulders and the readiness to shift into a battle stance. It's one more thing she can sympathize with.

"Yeah, this place can be a little confusing at first. I take it you were just let out of the hospital?"

"It'll get easier as time goes on. I'm Carol, By the way. Captain Marvel if there's an emergency."

Carol extends a hand in greeting.

Okay, that's different. No one's ever asked about her code name before. Normally the bodysuit is enough to clue someone in.

"It's my code name. I'm a superhero working with the Avengers."
