Open Log
Who: Future Lin Beifong and you!
What: An earth and metal bender taking out her fury and frustration on New Moore present
When: August 12, mid-afternoon
Where: Downtown New Moore, getting nearer to the police station - single, specific buildings, not the whole area
Warnings: Violence, trauma, mental instability
If there was one thing that Lin was good at, it was intimidation and destruction, and she'd only gotten better at it over the years. A powerful self-confidence turned her walk into a predatory prowl. Appropriate for today.
Everyone knew her, as they should, and scurried to get out of the way. One command and the patrons started clearing the building like elephant-rats deserting a sinking ship. Vermin. Only good for soiling and ruining things. A flat, feral smile, utterly devoid of humor, curled her lips. Her younger self might not assert her power as she should, but still these peons fled.
...If her younger self would not break, she would have nothing that she loved to return to.
Reaching for the supports, both concrete and steel, she clenched her hands into fists and began ripping them out wholesale. What did it matter if a few of the staff hadn't made it out yet? Their lives were nothing to her. Metal screamed under her harsh treatment, the building shuddered, chunks of masonry fell and windows cracked. Fury fed her. Strengthened her. The ground cracked beneath her feet and the structure swayed. Everything hung on a fraction of friction and balance. One touch and the entire thing would come crashing to the ground.
A smile split her lips to stretch a blaze of obscene pleasure across her face. Nothing would be safe. She would set herself on a path to greater power if she had to kill every single one of her sycophantic 'friends' to do it.
"Like mother like daughter," she grit out between clenched teeth. "Let's break some rules."
Her hands pulled back sharply, foot lashing out in a vicious sweep, and with a resounding crash, the building imploded, sending a plume of dust skyward.
As she straightened, the smile dropped away into a dangerously deceptive calm blankness. She spun on her heel and strolled away. There was a lot to do today. That was just the first step.

Zipping over she catches Lin walking away from the scene.
Walking away, not too.
Is that a fracture in- no. No no no no. Not Lin. Damnit not Lin.
"Lin!" She swoops down. "What happened?
no subject
Raising a hand in a brief wave, Lin represses the urge to smile, keeping her expression grave. "That's what I was attempting to figure out. It feels like it was deliberate."
no subject
Carol sighs. "Sorry about that. I know things have been crazy for you to. Any suspects yet?"
no subject
"A few leads to follow up on, but nothing... concrete yet." She really shouldn't pun. It was too easy to slip up. But that one was begging for it. Lin flicked her hair back, looking up at Carol. Why in the name of Earth was everyone she knew so tall? It was starting to irritate her. "Any luck with Loki?"
no subject
Carol shook her head. "No, but when this is all over and the little twerp comes out of hiding we will be having a talk. A long talk that will involve him fixing the roof of HQ."
Hovering again, she massages her temples. "This is more of a headache than normal."

She hovers just a little higher and gives Lin a tight smile. What's wrong with this?
"Right, I'll be back in a few. Do you need anything?"
no subject
Speaking of thorns in her side. Until she removed them, anyway.
"As I recall, big messes and high profile threats with little regard for the authorities was more his style. Let's see if he's from the future. This might be his work. If so, he might have other targets."
Just when had he begun going more public with those? She couldn't remember. Years ago, anyway.
no subject
"Tell me--was it politeness or a sense of morality that lead you to actually warn them?"
no subject
"It was a drug den," she lied easily, "transport, not manufacture. I don't have the officers to round everyone up right now, but the building should hold the evidence in place until I can get teams out here to clean up."
no subject
"You can't preserve evidence by tampering with the location keeping it. Otherwise, you would have secured it by simply partitioning the place off," Though, he didn't need magical analytical insight to do that much observation. He could have just guessed by watching her. It was more along the lines of wondering why she even did it rather than caring to ask whether or not she was lying in the first place. It was obvious to him.
"So, you're a high grade criminal. What are you getting out of this?"
no subject
She turns and starts walking down the street again. This was boring and she had other things to do.
