[Open Log]

Who: The Eleventh Doctor and everyone!
What: TARDIS POOL PARTY!
Where: The TARDIS
When: September 7th through the end of the event
Warnings: None so far~

Eleven could never resist an opportunity to show off his beautiful and constant companion, and everyone was so stressed out by the heat, this was the perfect solution. Instead of out of the way, like he'd usually park her, the TARDIS is slap bang in the middle of the apartment courtyard, doors thrown wide open and a couple arrow signs - written in crayon, of all things, and with far too many exclamation points - giving directions to the pool.

[ The promise of nice, cool water to sit and relax in is just far too great a temptation-however, his plans are put on an immediate standstill the moment he steps inside the console room. He quickly steps back out and runs around the perimeter before charging back in, face a bit flushed from heat already but the promise of mystery is a far greater temptation still, and he set about moving carefully around the room, running his hands along the walls. Was this a trick? ]

[ It's definitely not done with mirrors then. So then... how...? He pushes experimentally on the wall-not hard of course, he does have some manners. It's not until then he realizes he's being watched and the look on the guy's face alerts him immediately he's is probably not the first person to find the inside to be impossible. And yet.. somehow it was. How? ]

...How did you get the inside to fit?
miniholmes: (WHY CAN'T I DECIPHER THIS!?)

[personal profile] miniholmes 2013-09-09 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ honestly doesn't put much stock in science fiction-he likes it okay, but he'd never thought he'd ever have to apply logic to it, which is exactly what he's trying to do now. ]

So...

[ he looks back towards the door, it was like trying to force two pieces of a puzzle together he just knew would never fit. ] ...is the front door like... a portal?
miniholmes: (well...)

[personal profile] miniholmes 2013-10-08 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ He read parts of it, but it wasn't really his cup of tea, so to speak. ]

..Er, yeah, I think I got that far.

[ He just scowls not exactly very intimidating on a first grader. ]

Then why did you bring it up?
miniholmes: (So what if there's a pencil on my lip?)

[ SIGH. ]

Well, whatever. Just how big is this place anyway?
miniholmes: (/looks up)

...

[ He's trying to follow all that. ]

[ aaaaaand ]

[ failing miserably. ]

Sheska was grateful for the chance to at least sit somewhere that was cool and dabble her feet in the water. She couldn't actually swim, but it would be nice to see people having fun instead of snapping at each other. And so, smiling at the Doctor's home-made signs, she finally found the pool and made her way to the shallow end, trying not to be too self-conscious as she took off the cover-up over her green-and-white checked one piece suit. It was almost more like a very short dress anyway, but it hugged her body closely enough that it still made her a little nervous. Still... What harm was there in sitting on the steps and letting the water lap up around her waist while she watched the other swimmers?

He'd been running around like a mad thing, and she hadn't wanted to disturb him, but it was really nice of him to actually stop and say hello in person. She was already feeling less like overcooked spinach, and smiled up as cheerfully as ever.

"Hello, Doctor! Oh, no, I'm just fine, thank you, but I did want to thank you for allowing us to sort of invade en masse. I mean, this is a lot of people all coming to visit at once."

For such a short, quick speech, that contained a lot of information, and she sat up a little straighter. "You got married in the pool? You got married?" She blinked as another part of that made a connection. "You can delete rooms? But what happens to them when you delete them?"

Carol swims over to Sheska, sitting on the lowest step possible so that the most of her body remains under water.

"Good to see that you're taking a break."
librariansheart: (Small surprise)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-09 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh goodness, Ms. Danvers!" For some reason, Sheska hadn't actually expected to see anyone she knew - especially not anyone from work - and Carol had always been a bit awe-inspiring. Having her protection in high school hadn't actually helped that spark of hero worship any either.

"I-I, um, well, yes, I thought it wouldn't hurt to come watch people swim. I should probably put in some overtime, but... I needed a distraction, I suppose." She ducks her head shyly, tucking her hair back. "I-it's nice to see that you got a chance to come have a bit of a break yourself! You're always so busy..."

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-09-10 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
With school starting up again Carol hadn't had time to do much of anything. She's glad for the short break and even more glad that there are familiar faces at the pool.

"You deserve a break. I know you've been working harder than most of us. Is the AC at the station out too?"
librariansheart: (Concerned)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-13 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheska nodded with a wry twist to her lips. "Unfortunately, yes, the air conditioner is out there, as well. The station is higher on the list than the apartment buildings, but they have so many other calls to make first that I suspect it won't be today. The fridges in the break room are working hard, but they've survived so far, so I brought them some water in case they need it. How is the headquarters faring?"
tookthename: (grumpy)

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-09-14 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"HQ is sweltering. Since we're technically in a warehouse we're pretty low on the priority list. Natasha flatly refuses to go within several hundred yards of the place."
librariansheart: (Crestfallen)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-14 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheska crinkled her nose sympathetically. "Ohh, I'm sorry... Even with all the windows open I don't think there's enough breeze to help, and I know all the electric generators have been bought up already - I checked. Is everyone working from home for the moment?"
tookthename: (planning)

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-09-15 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"We don't want to take the generators away from people who might really need them." Carol moved so her back was against the side of the pool.

"They're working from where ever. We didn't even have a base for the longest time so it's not much of a set back."
librariansheart: (That's no good)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-18 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Privately, Sheska believed that if the Avengers were fighting so hard to keep the city safe, a private resident or store could sacrifice a generator for a day. But if people aren't offering them up, then that's that. And Ms. Danvers does have a point. It isn't a great hardship for them to work from other locations.

"Well, I'm glad that you aren't forcing yourselves to bake. It must be an oven that building! At home it didn't usually reach quite this temperature. In the east, toward the desert area, certainly, but Central City was much more even, climate-wise. Is it much different where you're from?"
tookthename: (thinking)

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-09-18 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Where I grew up was more inclined to colder weather, but we had some hot days every year. Some of the bases I stayed at while I was in the Air Force were pretty warm though."
librariansheart: (Sideways glance)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-23 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"The Air Force?" Sheska blinks, puzzled. They didn't have anything called that at home... Though something was tickling at the back of her mind. Something... something from when they were students for a week, maybe. What was it? "Is that... Is that another group of heroes?"
tookthename: (working on a plane)

"Kind of. They're a branch of our military. I joined as soon as I turned 18 and became a pilot."
librariansheart: (Realization)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-09-26 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"You really did!" Sheska looks delighted, unconsciously leaning forward a little. "You wanted to do that in school, didn't you? Is that where you learned to fly?"
tookthename: (smirking (headset))

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-09-26 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Carol nods "Yeah, my dad was refusing to pay for college because he only had money for one kid and thought it was more important that my brother go.So I enlisted to pay for school and ended up loving way more than I thought."

She smiles "You remember from that time we were all in high school, right?"
librariansheart: (Cheerful helper)

[personal profile] librariansheart 2013-10-03 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Just a teeny bit of hero worship shows in Sheska's face as she makes an ambiguous hand motion. "I remember a little, but I never wrote it down, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details. That's wonderful, though! You really have done everything independently, haven't you?"

Once she understood what it was, there was no way Aisling was going to not be a part of this. She had dashed over as quickly as she was able, which was saying something, even as tired and sluggish as she felt, and, with only a brief pause to caress the console and say hello to the TARDIS, she'd run straight for the pool and dived into the water.

Bliss! It was strangely fresh - almost too fresh, without the taste of the mountains and earth, and there weren't any fish to play with, but it was cooler even than the ocean, and there were people! She swam like a natural, even still clad in her usual tunic. The fur of her leg wraps wouldn't have taken the water well, so she'd left those aside, but what was the point of changing into one of those funny skins?

Carol's honestly fine with the heat, but a dip in a pool to get the humitidy off her skin sounds like a wonderful idea. Finding the TARDIS rather easily she proceeds inside, raises an eyebrow, then shrugs and follows the arrows to the pool.

Once there she quick changes into a simple black one piece and throws her hair back into a pony tail before jumping right in.

After the invitation (one that he could hardly resist, because even having a key to the box he didn't often step inside it, at least when the Doctor wasn't with him) he was quick enough to make his way to the TARDIS, slipping inside after knocking lightly once and almost stopping in his tracks at the sudden drop in temperature.

Such a part of his own television culture, the TARDIS did feel something like an old friend at times, and he didn't head straight for the pool but rather lingered in the control room, leaning over the controls.

He wasn't about to touch anything. Who knew what might happen if he did.

He twitched his fingers away from one of the controls like a child caught touching something they shouldn't, and shot a smile over to the younger man.

"Well enough, I suppose, though I'm starting to feel the strain of being here for so long." Arthur passed a hand over his face, pinching the bridge of his nose, but quickly shrugged it off. "It amazes me how you manage to stand being stuck in one place."

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2013-10-19 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know..." The uncertainty made it harder. He brushed his fingertips over one of the control panels then curled them back, letting out a slow sigh. "I've never been this far away for this long. I don't know if it's going to be detrimental to my health, given enough time."

Still, he smiled at the touching sentiment and looked over to the Doctor with a reassuring expression. "Not to worry, eh, lad? I've been alright so far."

"As soon as I know." Which could, he well knew, be too late to do anything about it. This wasn't a situation that he'd ever found himself in before.

"You'll have to pardon me if I don't join the party immediately." He paused, then let out a low chuckle and shook his head. "I'm afraid I've never been much of a swimmer."
