Who: John Watson (
heartofbakerst) & Sherlock Holmes (
worldsonly) & Shinichi Kudou (
miniholmes)
What: Shinichi has been relocated
When: Sept. 27th
Where: Holmes and Watson's flat
Warnings: n-none?
He'd never built a real emotional connection to his real parents as they were an inconsistent thing in his life. There was never any telling when or even if they'd be back so it was just easier to avoid getting attached. This made it much easier to avoid building emotional connections with others so it didn't bother him nearly as much as it should have that the person that was supposed to be in charge of him was gone-or so he told himself. It wasn't that he'd been attached and more than he hoped nothing bad had happened to the man called Nick Miller. But he was gone now, and from what he understood of how this place worked, he wouldn't be seeing him again.
It takes an embarrassingly long time for him to find the note stating he was to be moved to another room, that he's to have another guardian. He reads the slip over rather boredly before he getting to the name to the new guardian and immediately perks back up- Sherlock Holmes! If he'd been having a bad day before this news immediately brightened it for all of five seconds. What if Holmes said no? What then? Could he say no? Ordinarily Shinichi might have tried to guilt trip him but not Holmes-for one it probably wouldn't work and two, he just has too much respect for the elder to try something like that. But if he waits any longer someone would be sent to help him move his things and he imagines the government here was the last thing Holmes wanted to deal with-especially on the topic of being forced to take custody of a child.
Still, he stalls, working through every possible situation that could happen in his head-rehearsing what he could say and this time hopeful avoid getting too tongue tied and also it gives him time to pack his things and have them ready to go for whenever he moves… wherever. Hopefully in with Holmes. It doesn't waste nearly as much time as he would have liked as he'd only been in New Moore for about two months so other than some new clothes the only thing he really has is a large pile of books. …Maybe he should alphabetize them? By Author and genre?
That done, he had thoroughly ran out of things to kill time with and finally took a deep breath. If he waited any longer it would get to be too late and tomorrow morning the government would get involved. He grabs the notice and the envelope it came in and heads out into the hall before moving towards room 105, the path to the door seeming to stretch on forever. He swallows nervously in attempts to force down any lingering anxiety and, with the notice clamped tightly in one hand, knocks on the door-fighting the urge to just run away back to room 103.

A moment passes before he sighs, sets down his paper, and gets to his feet. "No, no. Don't worry yourself, I'll get it," he says as he drags his feet to the door. He wonders who could be knocking, the flat not usually so welcome to visitors. He is pleasantly surprised, however, to see the young boy outside the door when he opens it. "He..llo." He looks puzzled. "Can I.. help you with something?"

He's terrible at picking up social cues, but Holmes' tone digs uncomfortably at him-probably because he's still waiting on either an acceptance of rejection and if he can't find his voice soon, it'll more than likely be the latter.

"Shinji's room is empty," he says at last. "Don't touch the third cabinet on the right from the sink."

"...What's in the cabinet on the right from the sink?" Had he received such an instruction from anyone else he likely would have completely disregarded it and looked at the first chance he got anyway-but seeing as it came from Holmes, he'll respect the man enough to respect his rules... for as long as he can ignore his curiosity, at least.

"I'll help, it's mostly books anyway." Because what better way to spend your government stipend than on books?
