It is a bit disorienting seeing entries in my hand that I have no memory of writing.
But yes, evidently I had considerable faith in you. I'm sorry I don't remember everything that happened. I have tried putting the pieces together from the files.
If I did not already know it wasn't the case, I would think certain formulas from Torchwood's pharmaceutical banks had been discovered.
So far I've kept Jack from using any retcon. I think. We all have enough questions here without messing with anyone like that. Different town, different priorities.
The short version is you opened the New Brew, you left it to me; you introduced me to my current tailor; I didn't say anything earlier because I thought Jack would handle the debriefing after the.. you know, debriefing. It's possible I forgot I was dealing with Jack.
The long version is... you've got a line of credit with me that will never run out, Ianto. Ask me anything, and you'll get the best and fullest answer I can give you.
That is a strong vote of confidence. Allow me to return the favor as much as I am able to. I left myself a message or two in the network. I am not sure if you found them, or made sense of them already. It seems like you could have.
It is enough to convince me that for whatever reason, I trusted you when I was here before. Implicitly.
It may take me some time to fully understand how that happened, but you definitely have my attention.
If it was any wonder, in concern with the New Brew, I have no desire to take it back from you. I would like to see it remain in good hands. Otherwise I do have questions.
To do with Jack and yourself. Later. Possibly.
But more importantly, I did not have all of my memories last time I was here. It is fairly evident I was missing several... very large and unforgettable developments. Things I do remember now.
But I have no memories of this place. Things I also would be unlikely to forget. Your working theory, so far...
Are we pulled out of time and spit back into it, stripped of our memories, or, are we copies ripped out of points in our timeline?
It's hard to tell the two apart, from this side. There's some evidence suggesting each. The only person who's remembered multiple visits was capable of transmigration of consciousness, if I have the facts straight; suggesting the second. But various temporal anomalies on the island have lead to point at the first.
The first offers a chance, however slim, that someone might escape total loss of memory in moving from here, back to their own timeline.
The second suggests another set of problems entirely in who or what has the capabilities to recreate a full and complete clone, with memories and emotional development in tact.
I'm sure in the long run it matters little to any of us, if no one has yet to find out who or what is behind it all.
pretend he said stopped Jack from using 'almost' any retcon

At a guess, you've been looking at either the Vigilance transcripts or the Torchwood surveillance archive.

[And a lot of information to process]
I have a feeling I have only just scratched the surface.

And by we, I mean "you and me" as much as I mean Torchwood. You've found that much by now.

Does it make a practical difference?
