I hate to bother everyone with questions about another holiday, but I've been reading up on Christmas and... well, I'm kind of confused.

Are we supposed to celebrate the religion or Saint Nick and his magic, and is it for one day or twelve? I keep seeing both in the books.

Oh! And Jack, you're mentioned in the books, too. I thought you'd like to know.

This place has so many holidays and festivals... it's so hard to keep up. Which ones are the important ones?

Hm... well what do the books say about it? What's so special about this holiday?

I'm mentioned in the books?

There isn't really a right or wrong way to celebrate it, what matters is what's important to you.

Never have. Thrown a few thousand snowballs at them though.

Yeah. I'm sure North would really approve of that.

That's something I'm having trouble with as well. Perhaps the holiday is a combination of both things?

It somewhat makes sense. But if both of them appear in different books and the lessons or morals are the same, perhaps both aspects of the holiday are meant to be celebrated.

[...really it is.]

Maybe we're...suppose to spread love around and give to others? That sounds like it's a combination of both.

From what I've gathered, you can probably just pick and choose which parts to celebrate. It seems pretty ridiculous.

No, religious studying necessary. If it's like Snoggletog in the slightest, it's about celebrating the people around you, not the gods.

Our viking holiday. Don't even ask where that name came from. I couldn't even begin to tell you.

Problem solved then.

Christmas is certainly a tricky beast to understand if you're hoping to grasp all of it from the starting blocks. [He smiles at her.] I can remember when it was still a pagan festival.

What was it like? Well.. certainly far less commercialised. [A chuckle.]

And we didn't have Christmas trees.
