"I thought you were too old" is a sentence that makes me feel sick to my stomach.

And I'm not afraid of them. I just don't want to catch them. It's perfectly reasonable.

So then how would one catch the cooties?

By a girl kissing you on the lips. It's highly contagious. You automatically catch it then.

So all girls have cooties, then?

Even me?

All of them. But it's okay, they're immune to it themselves. You're fine.
The boys are the only ones that get sick from it.

They're born with it.

So what happens when you get them? How do you know you have them?

When you get them you might not realize it but you'll want to kiss the girl back. And follow her around. And date her. And marry her.

It has this horrible side effect of giving you feelings.

So getting cooties means you get crushes on girls. So it's girls natural defense mechanism against mean boys who just wanna throw rocks at them and pull their hair.

See, you get it. That's why you have to be nice to girls or they'll use this power to make you grow up.

You don't have to be a grownup to fall in love. Who told you that?

Because you're missing out on some of the best parts about being a kid. You're supposed to get dumb crushes on people and fall in love while you're still young enough for it not to matter.

It matters if you grow attached.

Because you realize what else you're missing.

That does make sense. It's not all bad, though. It's even kinda fun sometimes.

I'd rather stay avoiding it. Girls don't stick around, after all.

I usually don't, but there are plenty of girls who would.

The ones I know never do, they have reasons. Why don't you? Are you afraid?

I'm not scared of finding one. I have before. That doesn't mean I'd want to.

Sometimes. It's.. complicated. I just don't like getting bored, mostly.
