Just so people will stop asking, the mistletoe isn't here anymore. It wasn't natural, you know. Things can grow that fast, but only with help, and mistletoe doesn't make you kiss. Not usually. None of my plants do that, so you can stop hunting for some that will. Take your shears and knives and go home. And if you want pine trees, you can't just cut them down wherever you want to. I'll help you find a good place and put it in a pot to take home with you if you bring something to trade, but I won't let you cut them down just because. There's a place that sells butchered trees near the big building that sells everything. If you want dead trees, go there.

Speaking of things that might not make sense to people, while we're on the topic of dead trees and weird holidays, do you happen to have a lot of wood lying around I could use to build a thing that would then be set on fire?

If they want to put baubles and things in trees, they should come do it in the forest, not hack it down to do in their houses. That just kills trees for no reason. ....Some people make good cookies and sweets, though.

I might... You should tell me why you want to set something on fire, though. And where.

Back home we make a sort of big wooden tree in the middle of town out of all our wrecked ships from the year and then decorate it using old shields. It stays there for the entire celebration and then we light it on fire at the end. ...But I'd probably just make a little one and put it on the beach out of the way because I'm the only one celebrating Snoggletog over here and also because everyone's putting really flammable looking fake plants and little blinky hazardous lights on literally everything.

Hmm. If you keep it on the beach, that should be okay. There's always fallen limbs and things that could be used for something like that. Bring something to replace it - something that can help the plants grow - and you can take as much dead wood as you need.

You should recommend the plastic trees they sell inside of the big building that sells everything. If people keep buying the real ones, there's going to still be a supply and demand for them. Just a little note.

People who want potted trees are more likely to take care of them than people who just want to cut them down. They can bring the trees back when they're done with them if they can't keep them. I'll plant them in better places. People who will cut them down anyway won't do it for long.

It would be considered too much of a hassle for them to haul a tree all the way back to you. You shouldn't be so nice about your trees, m'lady.

...I've tried other ways. This is something new. Change comes hard and slow, but it has to start somewhere.

It should work. They make all kinds of plastic trees! Some barely even resemble trees. Not comfortable for sleeping in, but they're good for small spaces and can be re-used.
