[ The screen's static fades in and out until the picture stabilizes, revealing what appears to be a black pool of liquid on the floor, on top of which there is a mask. A screech is heard. Suddenly, the mask is lifted up, and the black liquid takes on an amorphous shape. ]



[ The creature attempts to attack the screen with a slash attack. The screen flickers, and the creature appears closer to the screen, making unintelligible noises. ]

[ The creature attempts an ice attack. When a shard hurdles back towards it, the creature screeches and scampers away from the screen, huddling in a corner. ]



[ The screen fades to black. ]

[ Maya Teddie pauses at the sound of Pharos's voice. For a moment, it doesn't move at all. Slowly, the mask bobs up and down, as if the Shadow is agreeing he would like company. ]

[ Maya Teddie warily eyes the child for a few moments, before taking a tentative step forward. It is as if the Shadow feels a kinship with the boy. The creature takes another step forward. ]

[ Pharos waits patiently, just giving the man at the door a glance and an eerie smile. it probably wouldn't be half as creepy if it wasn't for the dull, lingering air of silence following him. it seems very cold without a drop in temperature. ]

[ The Shadow decides Pharos is not a threat and inches slowly towards him. Though it takes a few moments, he comes to rest at the boy's side. ]

[Shepard looks between the kid and the shadowy thing, and keeps his gun pointed at the ceiling. He wants to warn the kid that it's not safe... but Hell, maybe it just reacts badly to gunfire. Can't blame it for that, and he can't remember, when he first showed up in this place, which of them made the first hostile move. He continues sidling to the door, and tries to keep his voice quiet and even.]

So. Can I go now? Is that th... is it safe?
