I'm looking for a girl named Madoka. she's my age, with pigtails and wearing a Mitakihara Middle School uniform. I don't know what this place's deal is, or why there are witches and familiars here too if what happened to me was fake- but it's obviously not safe, so she shouldn't be here.

And if you meet a girl named Akemi Homura, don't trust her.

Then you know what I mean when I say you can't trust them.

Believe me when I say that I have learned that particular lesson very clearly, in the most dangerous classroom setting imaginable.

What?

Well, it was actually a classroom, but one of my classmates had sealed it off from the rest of reality and was turning desks into spears to throw at me.

That happened here?

No, that was before I came here. The island has been positively safe by comparison.

I don't know, I've seen some pretty bad stuff and I've only been here one day.

There are witches here.

That was back home. Also, she was an alien, not a witch.

I'd be lying if I said the same hadn't occurred to me from time to time.

However, is that really any stranger than belief in witches?

I'm not asking anybody to believe me! You just asked and I told you.

I didn't say I didn't believe in witches. Just that my own set of insane experiences should be considered equally plausible.

Fine, but it still doesn't make any sense! I mean, if I'm supposed to be fake, why are there witches here? Are witches and contracts and everything else real, but just me is the fake one? Is that what they're trying to tell me??

There's no need to take things so far. I think it's much more likely that none of us are fake, but we've all become sliders.

Dimensional sliders. Travelling between alternate realities.

It's something I had a reason to suspect would happen, back home.

No.. I don't know how to do that.

Neither do I. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean there aren't extraordinary people and events that can drag you kicking and screaming into such things.
