[ as she types that in response, he's giving his Phone of Stark a quite quizzical look. did she call herself "Ukraine"? he had not yet a Midgardian bearing the name of one of their countries. how curious.

Oh! Goodness, everyone's quick today. [ the wave is returned with a lot of cheer for someone who just nearly got mugged, but, you know, these things happen and all. ] I'm fine, really!

[ he stands on his tiptoes to study her expression, and then looks overtly relieved. he moves to take one of her shopping backs in either hand, that's what Thor would do. ]

[ Ukraine smiles at him: see! no harm done! and wow, she finally gets to be on the other end of the "were you named after or are you the original" question. not that she really knows it. ] Oh, like from the myths, right?

[ she starts rummaging around one of the bags and pulls out a slightly damp box of popsicles to peel open and offer him one. ] There you go, sweetie.

Yes, like from the myths. You could say that.

[ they would go with that. though his attention on those last few words seems to fade as he peeks up to watch her dig through one of her bags. oh oh, was that? it was...!

he brightens considerably, shifting one of her bags from one hand to the other and eagerly accepting the popsicle. ]

Oh bother, I wasn't even thinking, let me get that -- [ oops guess who didn't plan this beyond "get the kid a popsicle"! she takes back one of the bags so he can have a hand free. then off we go, before anyone else shows up with a mind for her groceries! ]

You know, one of my friends mentioned a few days ago that her friend Thor had shown up. Is he your brother?

[ he trots beside her, eating his popsicle. certainly his presence would chase away any other riff-raff they came across. when she mentions Thor he realizes that he has to think fast. all and all, he hadn't really known what kind of impact his presence would cause on this island—along with Thor not remembering him. he wonders, once again, just what happened in his final moments before his arrival. it was possible that this was some elaborate trick. for now he would have to play it as it came. ]

If only it were so simple.

[ it hurt in an odd way, but he wasn't about to let on. no, not unless it was some benefit. right now, it wasn't. he does manage a small, but sad smile in response. ]

But I don't believe that the Thor is the one that I know. A consequence of being "fake", perhaps?

Oh no, I'm so sorry! [ she can't hug him with arms full but there is A HUG IN HER EYES. (how many Thors can there be though?) (well, it was still a popular name in Scandinavia, wasn't it? maybe she'd have to ask Denmark if he showed up.) ]

I guess that's better than being all alone, though I can't imagine how unhappy I'd be if my siblings came here and weren't quite the ones I knew...

I think of it as an exciting opportunity, m'lady. No one here knows who I am, or my past. It may as well be a good thing.

[ Thor was ... similar. not the same, but similar enough for Loki to pinpoint a few of his more glaring personality traits and mannerisms. he wouldn't tell her, not yet. he felt as if it was a card that he couldn't show, no matter how trustworthy she came off. he still didn't have enough detailed information about this place to reveal anything. ]

[ lord what could have happened to make a little boy prefer to be alone than with his brother. it's mind-boggling to someone as family-oriented as Ukraine. ]

Goodness, that sounds terribly lonely, though.
