They are very friendly here, aren't they? I just had a long and amiable chat with a particularly outgoing young nurse. She even offered to show me the best places in town to get a bite to eat. Then they offered me this handy phone. I suppose you need a pleasant welcoming committee when you drop a bombshell like that one on a person.

Fictional, hmm.

I've been called many things in my day, but that was never one of them until now.

You have been here for longer than I have. That much is obvious. I do not know this area, the people or the land. In fact, the only thing I do know, is that you are here as well.

[Play to Derek's desire to be in control without getting too suspicious. Peter looks away, as if this is the hardest thing to say, stares up and off at the ceiling as he noticeably stifles a sigh.]

I'm not what I used to be. [Double meanings, there, and he glances sideways back.]

I am not even entirely sure where we are.

[ From this vantage point, though a camera phone, far away from the hospital, Derek can't tell if Peter is lying. He probably wouldn't be able to even if he was standing next to the man. Derek wants to believe.

So he does.

He's still grimacing, though, still wary, even if he's already made the choice to not to kill Peter just yet. ] We're on an island, and no one knows exactly where it's at. It's called New Moore.

[Somewhere in the back of his mind that name draws a familiarity. Some story he read in a book or newspaper once a long time ago. Something to work toward remembering in the future.]

You are still here. [It is so hard not to just turn the sass on full blast, really.]

And judging by the welcoming committee - I'm going to go out on a limb and say this isn't an ordinary island.

[ Derek rolls his eyes. ] There's a forcefield preventing people from going anywhere, and everyone here is supposedly fictional. I'd say it's pretty normal.

[Peter doesn't bother to hide the slight smirk at that reply. Derek is definitely a Hale, even if he is rough and wild around the edges.]

And the Alpha pack?

[It has been so hard to hold off on his true curiosity, but he manages to pass it off as just another in a line of questions, and not his primary concern. Trapped on a force field island, fine. Trapped on a force field island with the Alpha Pack? That would be cause for immediate action.]
