Hello. My name is Aqua and new to this...island.

Am I to understand everything that was told to me in the hospital is true? That my existence...and everything I know, was as imaginary as the worlds and characters in books? I find this very hard to believe, though from what I'm told my skepticism is "normal".

I digress, if anyone knows of Ven or Terra or if they are here please, let me know. Any and all information would be helpful.

Ven? Did you say Ven?

Who is he?

Yes, Ven. It's short for Ventus. He's one of my best friends. Do you know him, Miss....?

They're pretty adamant about everything being fictional. But I'm still not totally convinced either.

... no. I have no idea who he is. But a boy said I looked like him... and I couldn't figure out why.

[ She turns on her video so Aqua can see her. ]

My name is Xion.

[There's a light sigh of relief. Good to know she's not the only one thinking that.]

How can they have the technology to bring "fictional" people or beings to this place--!! [There's a little shuffling as the device slips out of her hands and in the process causes the video to turn on.]

....Ven?

Honestly, from what I've understood, it's just their way of understanding people coming from different worlds.

[She blinks when the video is suddenly turned on for her to see..Ven? But the image of her friend disappears to reveal a girl. Strange...this is all very strange.]

Nice to meet you. [Pause.] The eyes. He had blue eyes too.

[ ... a little hesitant ]

I ... guess that could be it. ... it's nice to meet you too, Aqua. Um, no one really knows what to think about what the doctors tell us, but... I think a lot of people don't believe them.

Do they mean to study us then? Better yet...how do they even know different worlds exist?

They don't. See, that's the trick. They don't understand what's going on, so this is their way of explaining it.

[Oh hi there Aqua. Roxas just blinks into the device curiously. Sorry, not the doofy key-wielding blonde you're looking for. The first part of her question is going to be completely ignored in favor of focusing on the second part.]

...no. [He definitely looks a little more than confused as to where that had come from, but he won't ask just yet.] Who's Ven?

Could be. [Is Xion...shy?]

The doctors do have a mysterious feel about them, as though they're keeping something from us. They didn't give me too much information only what I "needed."

Is there anything else I should know?

Why not tell us, though? It would be beneficial to work on a solution together, unless there's more going on than that.

People are afraid of the unknown.

My best friend ... he runs into lots of people who aren't up for the weird outsider thing when he goes places to help. Not always, but it's generally a good idea not to let people know about what's going on.

[Her eyes look at him on the screen, trying to search for something that clearly isn't there. There was a tiny bubble of hope, but now it's gone. He's not Ven, a lookalike, but not her best friend.

There's a pause as her guard comes up.] A friend, someone I haven't seen in a long time.

They are pretty strange. I think it might be best to trust what you find out from the rest of us.

Um... I guess that depends on what you want to know. Strange things happen here sometimes... and there are monsters around right now! I guess a lion escaped from somewhere, and there are these other dangerous creatures on the loose. We're trying to take care of them, though.

A friend. [A beat. He's still watching her as she's examining him, and even though he can't figure out what would make her think he's this Ven guy, he can tell it was important to know if he was or not.] Like a best friend?

People can be afraid, if they give into their fears.

You sound like you have some experience on the matter yourself.

Yeah. Some. Not as much as Sora, but some.

Anyway, I'm Riku.

The kind of outrageous claims the hospital makes haven't been proven to anyone's satisfaction, if proving something like that is possible. Under circumstances like that, skepticism shouldn't even be considered normal. Instead, you could call it the default state, something almost as steady as universal constants like the pull of gravity and the speed of light.

How many people are here on this island?

[Blinks, but her face turns ever so slightly serious.] Monsters? What kind are they?

Oh... I don't know! That's a good question. A lot more than I've ever seen before. Maybe a couple hundred?

The ones I've seen are small and blue. I can send you a picture.

Yeah...like a best friend, or a little brother. [It's still hard to talk about Ven. There's guilt gnawing away at her for what happened.]

I haven't seen him in for a very long time.

Oh. [Okay Roxas, think of something helpful to say.] People come to the island all the time, I think. Maybe he'll be here soon. My best friends turned up here, too. [Even if he doesn't remember one of them and the other is a totally different person now, nbd.]

But why did you think I was him?

[Sora. The name makes her momentarily lose her grip on the device, but she catches it and accidentally turns on the video feed. The name Riku goes off in her head too. He sounds older, much older.]

I remember you. [A pause.] ...Seems you've grown.
