There's a long version of this and a short version. The short version is: I'm putting a team together, and I want you on it.
There are a lot of different reasons to put together a team. To unify against a common threat. To work together to avoid confusion. To train a group of people who might not be good enough on their own. To get control and set an agenda.
Those aren't my reasons. Some of you I know well, and some of you just by reputation. But I trust each of you to be professional and independent, and to pool your efforts when we need to if there's danger. And I'm not grabbing the reins: when I have a final roster of who's in and who's out, and we've considered whether or not we want to add some less-familiar faces to our lineup, we'll be voting on a leader.
So, why do this at all? Especially when most of you don't remember the Titans, who I'd like us to be named after (though we can vote on that too, I guess). It's because of what the Titans always were as a team. We're a long way from home here, even if most of us remember coming from similar places and times. The Titans fought together, and worked together, but those things weren't our mission. The mission was to have a place that people like us, wherever we came from, whatever we were doing, could go to be understood. To get away from the kind of pressures we face every night, or at least be somewhere where everyone knew about them, and nobody was condescending to us because of our ages or our backgrounds. To be just a little closer to home and family.
I'm putting a team together, and I want you on it.
Take your time, think it over, and get me an answer when you can. No expiration date, but I've got plans for us starting next weekend, and if you are interested, you probably don't want to miss them.

I'm putting together a Titans team. And I'm trying not to make too many assumptions. If you're interested, you're on the team, no questions asked.
This isn't me attempting to get control or make you answerable to me. When we have a roster, the team will vote on who's in charge. This is me trying to open up a line of communication between us that doesn't rely on explosives.

The offer's still open. It won't run out. I know your answer, but I'm keeping you in the loop.

[He's going to show up shortly. With more orange juice, this batch freshly squeezed, rather than from a carton. Probably easier way to get vitamins and minerals into Tim right now than actual oranges.]
[action]
[action]
I'm not even going to ask if you're supposed to be out of bed at all. But have some of this [freshly squeezed juice, currently beside the keyboard], and tell me if you need anything else.
[action]
[He takes the orange juice readily, and drinks most of it right away.]
That's good. There's nothing right now. Still waiting for some replies to come in.
[action]
That work?
[And, if Dick has to go, Tim can pull off the keyboard in his lap and type from there.]
[action]
... All right, fine.
[He wheels over to the bed with the long-suffering expression of one brother humoring another, but he does exactly as requested, promptly.]
[action]
[Yes, he is bringing the table with the computer over. When Tim doesn't need his help, of course.]
[action]
[action]
[Light, teasing. Almost laughing.]

Except, "Titans?" Is there much of a point in having a name, other than making ourselves targets? The League made our team to do what they couldn't cause they were too public.

Avengers? Okay, that makes sense. So this is a group back in your world, "The Titans?"

Not that I wouldn't have used it on Jason, but when he decided to do something stupid he'd leave his phone behind.
