[Video] - backdated to yesterday morning 9/9
[Perched in the topmost branches of what appears to be a truly stupendous oak tree, Aisling looks much more like herself now that the heat has broken. Her white hair snaps in the wind, bright against the dark clouds building over the mountains.]
A storm is coming. It's good! We could use the rain - cool the earth and give everything something to soak up.
[Her branch tosses violently in a more aggravated gust, and she laughs, totally unafraid.]
Most of you will probably want to stay inside today! It's a strong one; full of life and energy. It looks like it'll stay till this afternoon at least. Maybe into the night!

Of course! We need the rain, and the heat has broken, and things will thrive!
[A pause, and you can almost hear her shrug cheerfully.]
And I like watching the clouds and lightning.

They are pretty amazing to watch. Lightning's fascinating in general. This one time I was on the roof and it hit it and that was pretty cool and horrifying on all levels.

What sorts of things do you invent?

Though we might have to make a few tweaks.

[She gives him a quick look, then looks down before dropping and bouncing deeper into the tree, heading for an area with heavier branches where she can look without fear of rain getting to the device. She tilts her head a little, watching him.]
And maybe the tension in the air will ease. People don't think well in the heat.

[There's a slight hesitation, as his expression grows the tiniest bit uncertain.] I... apologize for my behavior this weekend. I hope I didn't startle you too badly.
And I truly do appreciate the sanctuary of your forest.

I know. It is yours...

[There were times where even the sun's love grew overwhelming, smothering its children with heat and humidity. Not even a breeze was able to rise to stir the heavy air, and the coolest places were either underground, or beneath the trees. So for once Aisling had kept to the ground, moving more slowly as she checked the welfare of her kingdom.
She had been across the valley when she had sensed him enter, and she should have gone straight to him, but she hadn't. It had taken her the better part of an hour to reach him, and when she'd gotten there he'd already fallen asleep. She saw at once why he had sought the seclusion of the forest. A long-sleeved shirt was neatly folded next to him, and it left... everything on display. She stopped, shaken by the extent of the damage. She had known - he had told her - about the scars. The burns. But looking back, he hadn't said how badly he'd been hurt. Not really. She hadn't known.
As silently as any woodland creature, she crept nearer, watching the sunshadows play over his skin. He must have been near to fainting with the heat, in that shirt. And had he removed it, everyone would have seen. With his head fallen forward, his eyes were shaded by the fall of his hair, and he looked... utterly spent. Without his driving force of personality behind it, hiding how he felt, his face hell into worn lines of hurt and exhaustion. How long had he not been sleeping well? Probably not since time turned on its head.
Tucking her hair back, the sprite slipped closer still, no more than a few feet away. The dull, angry red of the burn along his arm seemed to almost glow in the heat, and even in the shade, perspiration darkened the roots of his hair and gleamed faintly along the lines of his shoulders and muscles. She wondered if he had been remembering to drink water. He had been hiding too much. Not allowing himself to speak about it and heal. He had been forced by circumstance to do terrible things. And seen worse. That would build, rotting, under his skin unless he let himself bring it into the open. Even now, he was dreaming. She could see it in the way that his eyes moved behind the lids, and the way his muscles occasionally twitched in response to something in his mind. It wasn't pleasant, by the look of it, and it wouldn't have surprised her to find that he was reliving those dark days. He didn't need to speak with her. She had no illusions about that. But still. He should speak with someone.
Aisling dropped to all fours, slinking closer till she could really get a good look at those horrible marks that marred his skin. He'd said there had been slashes across his chest. She hadn't expected them to be quite so large. Memories of the remnants of wounds his older self had displayed twisted her stomach, and a flash of his ravaged, lifeless body nearly made her retch. Hesitantly, drawn to them in a way she couldn't explain, she reached out. Over his thigh, over his arm... to gently touch the beginning of one of those dark, puffy trails across his chest. She should have known better. But she hadn't expected his reaction.]
