[ pause. ] Not that it's happened a lot, but I figured once was more than enough. As for the idea of having been fictional before – right. Sure. Somebody really outdid themselves this time around.

Now, I'd ask if anyone's been able to find a way outta this place, but something tells me the answer would be a no. So I guess I'll just stick with an introduction.

[ Steve has to laugh, quiet and friendly -- Miles' enthusiasm is catching and it's nice to have somebody happy to see him, to speak to him. It's been a while since that happened. ]

That Ferris wheel'll get you for sure -- that, and the Cyclone. Went on it after a couple hot dogs once -- [ He pauses, remembering, and for a moment his words falter. Something of the conflict must show on his face -- but Steve moves on, his expression smoothing out quickly. ] -- and, uh. End result? Not so pretty.

[ His lips twitch. ] But I'd say it was worth it, anyway. Nathan's had the best hot dogs.

Your pal Ganke sounds like a real character. Did you two go to the same charter school?

[ Not in the way that counted, at least. Steve's voice is quiet, and he pauses for a second, thinking back. ]

But close enough, anyway. Just a place I was staying at.

Either's good. Fair warning, though, my answer might be of a similar nature.

It was bitter, yeah, but -- you know what, you might be onto something. I think a couple of the guys had a wager going on that it wasn't really chocolate at all.

[The bookstore is a safe subject to talk about for both of them. Aqua wanted to ask where 'home' was for Steve, but that would be taking it too far. They barely knew each other and that topic was better left for another day.

Their little walk continues on until they've reached the gym.]
