So I just need to cross my fingers somebody out there knows what being a banshee means. And that they're somebody I can trust, since the last person who offered to help me "train" was the person who did this to me.

I can't convince you to let me help. Do you want me to put the word out or not?

If I don't, am I gonna get a doctor referral? Get locked up at the hospital?

Nope. You can live in pain all you want. I'm just trying to help you.

Right. You said helping people is part of what you do. What's the other part?

Picking up the takeout and punching things in the face that try to hurt people.

And currently teaching gym class.

If you get a doctor's note saying you aren't fit for running then of course.

Pretty sure Dr. Watson's clinic is open till at least 8 every evening.

Yes, this is all an elaborate ruse to get out of gym class. The last doctors who diagnosed me either wrote off running naked in the woods for half a week as a "fugue" state, or were a veterinarian. Pass.

Why did you go see a vet?

I didn't. But when you are literally surrounded by werewolves in your current social circle, that's their go-to suggestion for medical help. Also he was a druid emissary too.

But he was a good druid, right?

Sure. He helped our friends momentarily die to save their parents, always a plus.

What do you get out of helping me? Or have you devoted your life to helping out narcissistic teenage girls?

I've devoted my life to everyone.

Yeah, that's so not true.

Tell you what. If you can actually find someone who can not only tell me what I am and how to do whatever the hell it is I do, I'll get you whatever you want. Provided this mystery person doesn't gut me, choke me, or otherwise try to murder me. Don't put yourself out though, I think that pool's pretty shallow.

Honey, I guarantee most of the people I'd lay my life down for have done worse things than you in their lives. There isn't much you can do short of genocide that will turn me off helping you.

And what does that say about you?

That I'm not one to dwell on the past.

That's one way to look at it.

So you get a lifetime's worth of joy of helping people. What do I get if you can't find anybody? Besides crazy bad migraines.
