WHAT: Log/actionspam re: rescuing Whiny McWhinyPants I mean Rory.
WHO: All the people who apparently like Rory???? Who are you. Participation not required, etc, but pop by if you want.
WHEN/WHERE: The Dark Hour, Monday the 13th, somewhere that essentially looks like Amy's childhood home: big house, lots of rooms. For reference.
At night, Amy's empty house is just a little bit foreboding. Everything creaks, and every single sound becomes a possible robber, a monster, a vengeful spirit. Or at least, that's how it was when Rory was allowed to stay over when they were small.
Now, Rory lies in wait. He paces around the room, his path marked by the clothes that frame it on the floor. He mutters to himself, half-remembered memories of another time he spent waiting.
The other Rory, suitably chastised after trying to fight his extremely vocal and more capable counterpart, sits on the bed, handcuffed to the bedpost. Every so often, when he thinks he hears a sound, he tenses.
"Don't worry," Rory says, stopping his pacing to address him, shaking the little Amelia doll he holds in front of him. "Chances are no one's coming. But we've got practice waiting forever, haven't we?"
The other Rory bares his teeth, "We have nothing in common."
The room the two Rorys occupy is not an easy one to find. Cloaked by a perception filter, the door cannot be found by a simple look around. Rory's rescuers must be careful, and look where they wouldn't usually look.
When the door finally does open, and Rory sees their visitors, he starts laughing. The other Rory tries to get up from the bed, and the bedframe rattles.
Rory hisses, "Shut up."
He turns back to his would-be rescuers and makes as if to straighten his tie--an empty gesture, as it's more than ruined.
"Welcome! We thought you'd never get here."

Rory! I'm really glad you are okay. Uh... that goes for both of you, I guess.
[Suddenly, his whole face brightens. ]
Hey, is this like Face/Off?
no subject
The Nicolas Cage movie? How is it at all like that? I thought they switched faces or someth--
[Rory's shadow, who's trying to be dramatic, doesn't appreciate the interruption, and takes a violent step toward the bed, and Rory shuts up. Then the shadow turns toward John.]
It can be, if it helps you understand it. Mostly it's that this one [He jerks a thumb towards Rory.] is a bit of a mess, and I think it's high time everyone knew.
no subject
Everyone thinks they are a mess, sometimes. But a lot of people like you the way you are. See! Look how many of us came.
no subject
[Rory shrugs.]
I told you, John, you wouldn't like me if you really knew me.
no subject
Or maybe I would like you more! Did you ever think about that?
[ Still, this is Business Time. John holds the Zillyhoo at the ready and stares Rory right in the weird yellow eyes. ]
Why are you being so hard on yourself?
no subject
No, John, I hadn't considered that. People don't usually take kindly to whiny, useless cowards, d'you know? It's not surprising, either.
[He shrugs.]
Everyone else is, I figured it was about time I joined in.

Still, this is difficult. The shadow is a part of Rory; Souji had stressed that enough. This isn't like telling some fuckass to go to hell because he's being mean to your friend. This is your friend, being mean to himself. Dealing with that is pretty weird! But John straightens up, a friendleaderly look on his face. They are going to save Rory, no matter how hard it is. ]
I don't see anyone here being hard on you. I just see a lot of people who want you to be happy, and we aren't leaving any time soon.
no subject
[Rory takes in John's stance, the determined look in his eyes.]
Are you going to fight a friend, John?
no subject
Yes.
[ It comes out of John's mouth before he's even fully processed the question. He didn't really... think about the fighting part. I mean, kicking the little shadows' asses, yeah! That was all good fun. Kind of like imps. But if it actually comes down to fighting Rory's shadow... well, he's still Rory.
John steels himself and speaks again, his voice firmer. ]
Yep. If that's what it takes, then yeah, that's what I will do. Because no one is pretending, Rory.
no subject
[Rory looks contemplative, before a darker expression takes over his face.]
But if you won't leave, then that's what'll happen, of course.
no subject
Sometimes you have to do things you do not want to do, I guess.
no subject
[Rory's straining his handcuffs, and he sniffs disdainfully at his shadow.]
Look, whatever, we're not--you shouldn't--he's a kid. John, you don't have to...
[Shadow Rory's eyes gleam. His face contorts in anger.]
It's too bad I don't have a sword here. I'm handy with those. The whole Roman soldier thing, which is still in here, by the way. No matter how much we want to forget.

He likes evveryone, its actually pretty fuckin annoyin. And wwhat the hell other intentions are people supposed to havve, it wwas tough as shit to get here, no thanks to you
no subject
[Rory huffs a laugh.]
But at least Amy is, I suppose. Which is a nice change.
[On the bed, Rory rattles his handcuffs as he tries to sit up.]
Don't talk about her like that. [His voice is quiet, but strong.]
no subject
I don't fuckin get it, wwhich one is past-Rory and wwhich one is present or future or wwhatevver-Rory and howw long untll wwe start shootin again? [ He eagerly lifts the laser gun he's inexplicably obtained since his arrival on New Moore.
no subject
[The handcuffed Rory groans.]
We are not. If you haven't noticed, you're a bit of a prick and you've kidnapped me.
[Realizing what he has said, Rory looks apprehensive. His shadow smirks and turns back to Eridan.]
We're a little thick, as you'll notice.

[Rory smiles.]
So, go ahead. If you shoot one of us, this'll only get worse.
no subject
Shut up, Eridan.
no subject
Right, because your wway is wworkin out so great. I don't fuckin believve this.
no subject
You're not helping, dude.
no subject
no subject
Don't help me, help Rory.
no subject
... John.
( That is, until he saw the bang-up job Eridan was doing of negotiating with Rory. Fenris cleared his throat and spoke low. )
If I remember right, Souji mentioned something about having Rory accept his "Shadow." Perhaps he does not wish to acknowledge the part of him that feels so unwanted.
no subject
You are probably right, but I thought all of us being here would be enough to convince him...
