This morning utility workers found the body of former Police Chief Anziano in a transformer station downtown.  No word on his cause of death.

Word from on high is that Chief Halder has been recalled from his appointment due to personal issues.  I'm sure it has nothing to do with the mysterious illness afflicting the force, the repeated complaints across the city that we're denied fair representation and protection, or Halder's sudden conviction that this might not be the healthiest long-term assignment... but in any case, we have another new Chief, the island's own Thomas Kreise.

No idea why in Hell anyone would want a thankless job like this, but at least they looked at 'fictional' people in their pool of applicants.

Looks like my flu is starting to clear up.  No lingering symptoms except... weird dreams.  I'll be back in the precinct tomorrow.

Hey, I get angry when I have to answer the phones. I don't have any desire to run this place.

I am going to be reviewing as many of the files as I can throughout the week. If you think of anything useful I should know, please tell me. I'll see about making sure we have proper phone-answering staff.

Does this mean I have to loose my drinking buddy? I am not sure how those personal details work, precisely, in this setting.

Our last staff member was released, and we haven't had any new applicants since.

As for the drinking, you're the one in charge of investigating Department ethics violations. I'm just the guy who slaps on the cuffs if you decide we're guilty.

In any case, it's not my call. If you've got a problem with the Chief, take it up with the powers that be -- if you can get them to answer the damn phone when you call. And if you can, let me know how.
