Hello!

My name is Moomintroll and I think there has been a mistake! People have told me that I'm not real and that this place is called New More and I can't go home. That's all very interesting but I feel very real and I don't mind walking a very long way.

Has anyone seen my Mamma? She looks just like me but carries a handbag and wears a nice red and white striped apron. Please tell me if you've seen her, or my Pappa (he wears a top hat), or perhaps Snufkin, who should be travelling back to Moomin Valley soon. He has a green hat and is quite well known for his adventures, I think. Perhaps I can stay a little bit longer to look around because I have never been in a place like this before without any of my friends, but everyone will be worried about me if I don't get home soon and I promised Snufkin that I would see him again in spring! He was awfully late, but I mustn't let him think I wasn't waiting…

P.s. Is Christmas coming here as well? How terrible! But there's no need to be scared because everything will be fine if we have a beautiful fir tree and give him presents. Oh, if only Mamma were here to cook a wonderful meal...

Mamma says the easiest way to explain the difference is that we are smooth and round and like sunshine, and other trolls are hairy and only come out when it's dark.

I assure you, there is little terrifying about Christmas. At least where I come from. Would you mind telling me a little bit about your Christmas? I am rather intrigued to learn about the differences between worlds.

Christmas is something that comes in the winter, and everyone gets very busy running around and making lists. They have to buy fir trees and make them beautiful, and then they make dinner and wrap up presents, all before night falls! In winter, the nights are very long and the days are very short, so it's very difficult and makes everyone very stressed out and scared, but I think it is a very big misunderstanding, you see. Usually I hibernate until spring with my family so I don't have to deal with Christmas often. How about your Christmas? Don't you have to get everything ready before he comes?

My friend Snufkin has a round face and brown hair and maybe looks a bit like you. He wears a big green hat with an orange feather, a yellow scarf, a green tunic and brown boots. He has a tent and carries a harmonica, and likes to travel by himself during the winter. Lots of little creatures like him and he is my very, very best friend. It is a pity no other moomintrolls have been here, but it is rather thrilling to be the first! If I see him again, I will have to tell him how wonderfully I managed all by myself!

It is nice to meet you too, Charles Xavier. I like my name as it is, but often people call me Moomin for short. You may do that too, if you like. Should I be calling you something else as well?
