Fourteenth flight
Gosh, there's so many new faces around I can scarce keep up with all of them. I'm Kaylee, and it's so lovely to meet all of ya. If you got anything mechanical needs fixing, I'm the girl to ask.
Oh, and everyone who's got a cat, Rose's post got me thinking...
[A video feed pops up of Kaylee holding a squirming cat. Said cat is wearing a... rather interesting hat. It then goes back to text]
I want every cat to be pretty as Jayne here and have a hat like I made for him, so I'd be happy to make some ♥

You're a mechanic? Cool! Love a mechanic. What time are you from?
[He breaks into a wide smile upon seeing the cat.]
Oh, hello there! Jayne, I believe? Ooh, okay - Lord Stormbringer. My apologies. Oh, the hat's not that bad. I think it looks rather cunning, actually.
no subject
[She then stares down at Jaynekitty, confused.]
You- you can talk to cats? Or is it just 'cause he looks more like a Lord Stormbringer?
no subject
Yes, I speak cat. I can talk to anything, actually!
He prefers to call himself Lord Sormbringer. He's not really a fan of the hat. Doesn't think it makes him look tough enough.
no subject
Lord Stormbringer, huh? If he's anythin' like his namesake, well, it does suit him... or suit his attitude, anyway. And yeah, he likes playin' with the yarn I make the hats from a lot better...
no subject
Yeah, he mentioned that. Seems he thinks of it as practice for his forays with the rodents. Seems to think of it as something of a crusade! Bit of a big head, that one.
No, Stormy, I didn't mean it like that! Oh, now don't...
Well, that went well. I don't think he likes me much.
no subject
[Kaylee then giggles.]
Sounds like you really can speak cat, though! He does like to bring me mice and look all proud of himself when he gets one.
no subject
What, you didn't believe me?
no subject
...Well, I ain't met a lot of people as can talk to animals, so sometimes it is a little hard to believe.

A short while later, there is a knock on on the door. And yes, he is wearing a fez.
Actionspam
"Hello!" Kaylee smiled upon throwing open the door. "The Doctor, I presume?"
Re: Actionspam
Looking past her into the apartment, he sees the cat as well.
"Oh, and little Jay - I mean, Stormbringer! Well, it's very nice to meet you both. Well, Lord Stormy, I am going to show Kaylee here my time machine. Would you care to accompany us?"
Actionspam
"Yup, that's me. And I hope you don't mind him gettin' into stuff... he's a real curious kitty."
Actionspam
He gestures out to the police box on the sidewalk, right outside the building.
Actionspam
"... That blue box? That's it?"
Actionspam
"It's not actually a blue box. It's camouflage. It's disguised as a police telephone box from 1963. Every time the TARDIS materializes in a new location, within the first nanosecond of landing, it analyzes its surroundings, calculates a twelve dimensional data map of everything within a thousand mile radius, and determines which outer shell would blend in best with the environment."
A pause as the Doctor catches his breath. The next sentence is significantly less energetic.
"And then it disguises itself as a police telephone box from 1963."
Actionspam
"That's a real handy ability, but I'm assuming the police box don't exactly blend in everywhere, huh? What, is it glitchy, or does it just like bein' a blue police box?"
Actionspam
The grin and the enthusiasm come galloping back. Here comes his favorite part.
"But now, Kaylee, prepare yourself. People usually have trouble with this next bit."
He snaps his fingers dramatically, and the doors fall open.
Welcome to the TARDIS.
Actionspam
"...Wooooow," she whispered reverently. "This is- this is a damn fine machine. A lot bigger'n it looks on the outside, too."
Actionspam
"Damn fine, and sexy. But don't let her hear you calling her it! You'll hurt her feelings - the TARDIS is alive, you know."
And she said the "bigger on the inside" part, too! He always looked forward to that. He stops fiddling for a moment to usher her inside and give her a bit of an explanation.
"Yeah, it is a bit. Small outer shell, big room crammed inside, what's that about? Let me explain. Basically, it's another dimension. This is the main control room. Bedrooms are up that way, bathrooms and libraries over there, and straight back is the swimming pool! Beyond that, I start to lose track - so there's always room to explore! So - where do you want to start?"
The Doctor is bouncing around like a kid on Christmas. Instead of asking his companion where in the universe they want to explore, he's asking her where in the TARDIS she wants to explore. Showing off the TARDIS to someone who actually appreciates her is very exciting!
((ooc: Oh god, bonding time over how sexy the TARDIS is - finally someone who'll agree! Also, does the TARDIS translation matrix mean that Kaylee can now talk to His Stormyness, Jayne?))
Actionspam
Kaylee just stood gawping, even as the Doctor ushered her inside. She kept turning her head this way and that, finding something new each time she looked around, until she felt dizzy.
"My head's spinnin'. Where do I even start? There's so much to do... oh, I'd love to look at her inner workings- you know, her engines and all- but she might not appreciate that, huh? I just love a good engine, way it makes the ship go, pushes her through space..." She sucked in a breath and did a small twirl on one foot. "This is like magic! It's better than magic!"
She smiled down at Jayne, who looked up at her and said very clearly,
"Where's the kitchen?"
Kaylee blinked down at her pet.
Actionspam
"Well, I'm afraid the heart of the TARDIS is too dangerous for mortals to behold. But she's controlled from here, and all the wiring is right beneath us! We can go down and take a look, if you want. I'm sure she's in need of a few new thermocouplings!"
He grins. "Right you are. And I'd choose her over magic any day. We've been through a lot, this box and me. What's it been, 700 years now?"
Oh yes, he liked this Kaylee. He obviously doesn't notice the difference when the cat speaks to Kaylee.
"Oh, right, sorry. Been a while since I've had a cat in the TARDIS. Kitchen's down the hall to your right, take two lefts, go straight, right past the helter-skelter, second door on your right!"
It will take him a moment to realize that the cat probably can't open doors. Although if Stormy Jayne thought about it hard enough, I'm sure the TARDIS telepathic circuits could probably do it for him.
((ooc: When she said it was like magic, my first thought was "wait till you read book 7". Also, I just had a terrifying thought. What would happen if Jack ever looked into the heart of the TARDIS? He'd absorb the time vortex, but could it kill him?))
