So I'm supposed to believe that I used to be a fictional character and now I'm not a fictional character and I have to learn how to not be a fictional character because my fictional life is somehow different from not having a fictional life?

[Kate takes a breath.]

Agreed - reality itself appears to be in flux here, and while I believe that I was real in my own world, this world seems to be a lot more vague about what is possible and how.

I never doubted being real in my world, but I didn't believe in aliens, either. This place is gonna take a little while to get used to.

In all likelihood, aliens - should they exist - probably don't care whether we believe in them or not.

I never ruled out the existence of aliens, simply because the universe is so incredibly enormous - the conditions that make the Earth hospitable for sustaining life are nowhere near unique. There exist in our universe hundreds of billions of galaxies, each with billions or even trillions of stars, and scientists believe that there are, on average, more than one planet per star. Are we so arrogant to believe we are the only ones to exist in all this? We are tiny!

I did believe, however, that it was unlikely we'd ever come into contact with them - however many stars and planets there are out there, the distances in between them are far greater.

Right. [To be fair she's never put that much thought into it, except for that one case when Castle was convinced it was aliens, and, well... Castle had certainly changed her mind about a lot of things.] I guess what I meant to say is I never believed they'd been to Earth so I really didn't think about their existence a lot. And I really never expected to get kidnapped with any of them.

Ah, that is a very reasonable stance to take.

[Yeah, that was all completely unnecessary - Koizumi just likes going on like that, discussing various topics in philosophy or metaphysics.]
