I'm pleased to see that nightly monstrous terrors aren't entirely normal, here. There could be nicer ways to welcome someone to town. But the stipend was unexpected, and I'm very grateful for that! I don't suppose anyone knows of any job positions open right now? I'll have to write up a resume.

I was just hoping that someone might be able to direct me to the local library? Or a bookstore, at least. My collection got left behind, it seems, when I was pulled here, and my room feels very naked without any books. I was hoping to change that?

I am afraid, my dear, that it is all for naught. I myself have ventured a pilgrimage to the temple of literature and found it barren. Some non-fiction in there, yes, but nothing to invigorate the imagination, I fear.

Oh dear. Really? I had hoped to find something which might tell me more about the people here - their legends, and stories they tell each other. That sort of thing. I suppose the non-fiction would be useful for the natural world, though. Maybe I should go find it anyway, if only to round out my education. My country didn't border an ocean at any point, so this is all quite interesting!

But I thought perhaps a primer on this real world might be in order before I indulge my curiosity. Is that all right?

I used to be an aide to a Major, sir. I mostly transcribed papers for him, but I often answered the phone and took messages for him as well.

I know - knew? - a few people like that. I miss them more than I thought I would, now that I can't see them anymore. But that didn't stop them from being irritating at the time!

Oh, well, I don't have a great deal to do, other than maybe go and find something more professional to wear! They didn't exactly bring my wardrobe with me. I believe that Juanes store is open 24 hours, so I can always go and shop after-- er.

No... Given my adoration for books, maybe it's best that I clothes shop beforehand. But after that, I'll be free! Unless you'd like to come along...? I'm not sure what styles are appropriate right now.
