[Really, at first, Anita looks nothing short of irate, sitting in front of the camera with her arms crossed. She's already heard every possible explanation from the folks at the hospital, and while she's done her best to take it with a grain of salt, she's not pleased. It's difficult to wrap her head around, honestly, and that's saying something, considering what she does for a living and how often she spends her time ass-deep in myths and legends. All sorts of things that people once thought were fictional but were, in truth, real.

This is just a twist she had never expected.]

The funny thing is that this is only bordering on the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me.

[She's certainly seen worse. Nobody is trying to chain her to a bed and slice her up, so, you know, that's a definite plus.]

I'm sure plenty of other people have shown up and started talking about how this just can't be true, so I'm going to skip that part for now and worry about finding out more about this place. I'll assume we're not looking at an island full of humans, given the circumstances. There's nothing wrong with that, but humor me. I'm curious. Are the police any good, or is it all Gangs of New York up in here?

[Ugh. So between her reply and yours, Kate's been in her ear. Which could explain why the following sounds a little like there's a metaphorical gun being held to Rose's head.]

He's not. Any more. Obviously. Also. He was nice so.... If that helps?

[Yeah Kate, you should have just let her spill about the whole bail out thing. It totally would have sold somebody on the cops around here.]

Actually, I've spoken to him. He seems alright -- I like to think of myself as a decent judge of character. I think I'll wait a bit before I decide which way my vote swings on that terrorist business.

Right... I don't supposed he happened to mention the whole Terrorist thing to you as well?

[Cause that would get Kate off her back.]

Way I see it. You've been kidnapped so the whole law enforcement thing? Good is always going to be relative.

[Yeah. That was meant to sound way more positive than it did...]

Not yet, but I'm sure it'll come up. Either he'll mention it, or I will.

[Anita raises an eyebrow, but nods in agreement nonetheless.]

'Good' is pretty relative no matter where you are, anyway, but especially in this situation. As long as they're decent people who are doing their job, that's all I care about.

Well... Then you should be fine.

[Maybe. Rose is just going to say whatever Kate wants her to say now to avoid getting scolded again.]

To tell you the truth, I haven't exactly been here long enough to be able to tell you much about how it all works and I don't much plan on sticking around long enough to be able to.

Sounds to me like we don't have much of a choice when it comes to sticking around -- but personally, I've never been good about doing what I'm told, especially if those orders are coming from some faceless overlord.

Well at least that's something we both have in common.

[Though in Rose's case, she was just never good at doing what she was told; period.]

People have left here before from what I can gather so, there's gotta be a way. I wouldn't mind some face to face time with the assholes who run the show though.

Not that I'm looking to build my summer home here, but what's it like? Other than what I've already seen on the surface. The guys who run the show, are they into playing God or what?

Beats me. I only just got here myself. Things have been pretty quiet since I did but I heard a few stories. Not sure about the whole, playing god business but they are big on drugging us apparently. They slipped something in the water and had people thinking they were pirates a while back.

[Anita closes her eyes, briefly. Well, that's just annoying.]

Drugging? Isn't that just peachy. They sound like the best landlords a girl could ask for.

I'm Anita Blake. Don't think I mentioned it.

[Rose's eyes narrow on her screen]

Your new room mate. At least, that's what the not taped to my door this morning suggests.

Oh. Roommates, huh? Convenient, then, meeting like this.

I promise, I clean up after myself. Mostly.

Beats you turning up and me thinking you're trying to break in that's for sure.

[She's a hit first, ask questions later kind of girl.]

Oh... good. And I promise... that I don't really have a lot of stuff to leave around so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I don't suppose you can cook though?

[That's fine. So is Anita. :D]

Basic things, though I'm used to living off of takeout. We won't starve, though.

Hey, it's going to be a hell of a lot cheaper now I've got somebody to split the bill with.

[I see a lot of pizza in their future.]

Sorry to disappoint. I make a hell of a bagel with cream cheese, though.

[Ya know. If it weren't for the fact that Anita was a Necromancer slash Vampire Hunter and Rose was a half vampire slash medium for the dead, these two would actually be the perfect housemates! Rose loves her some Chinese.]

Nice! I... I microwave like nobodies business so I see this working well for us both.

[There will be crazy sitcom-style shenanigans, I'm sure. They can overlook that clash of interests, right? Right? It's not like Anita kills all vampires on sight... anymore...]

It looks like we'll have all of the most crucial stuff covered.

[And hey, Rose is really only half Vampire and she too kills the bad ones so ya know. It'll work...]

So I guess I'll be seeing you soon then. I'd offer to come get you but, they don't much like me at the hospital.
