...in having a birthday if you don't even get the day off work for it?

Is it your birthday today? Happy birthday! It doesn't sound like you got off to a very good start today, but there's still plenty of time to turn it around.

You can always plan to have a good time with your friends after work is over... Why not go out to eat and make plans from there? Do something to give yourself a treat!

how do you measure your age?

Well, not by birthdays. I don't travel on the same day every year after all, so I've got all sorts of odds and ends, months and leap days and things.

you dont just automatically know how much time has passed for you?

Oh, is this when I was celebrating by birthday back when I was you? Hard to keep track...

Thought I suppose, what with us coming from different times, I'll have to choose a different day for this year.

Or you could both do it on the same day and have a party that's twice as big!

This has always been our birthday, hasn't it? In Earth time, anyway. I mean, not exactly when we tick over to a new year, no, but you've got to mark the day somehow.
