Who: Connor and you!
Where: Downtown New Moore
When: Late morning.
What: Connor is freaking the hell out.
[To anyone walking around downtown today, at first glance, Connor doesn't seem that different from any other citizen of New Moore. In fact, all things considered, his clothing marks him as pretty normal. Rather that merely walking, however, he appears to be prowling, crouched low whenever he moves as though it's nothing more than second nature. He jumps, startled, whenever other pedestrians pass him by, and while he stops to peer into storefront windows here and there, the first sign of movement from inside or the opening of a door is enough to scare him off, causing him to bolt for the next store over.
At some point during his cautious exploration, he ducks just inside an alleyway near the ice cream shop, pushing his left sleeve up to his elbow and examining his arm with a frown. There are several holes there, as well as faint streaks of dried blood, evidence of the doctors at the hospital trying to sedate him and being met with struggle several times over.]
This place...
[His voice is a low growl as he talks to himself, frustrated, hurt.]
More demon magic. I'm tired of magic.
[The young man on the video appears to be rather unsteady, vibrating slightly as he looks over either shoulder while on camera, having fumbled with it for several minutes beforehand. Technology isn't as foreign to him as it used to be, thanks to Fred and Gunn showing him how to work everything in the hotel over the summer, and video is preferable to text. His writing is terrible. He's never had to do very much of it.
When he finally focuses on the feed itself, his eyes are wide, spooked.]
This hell has computers. What kind of demons live here?

Do ye know which tower yer in? I think they gave me a sheet o' paper or sommat when I showed up.
Oh, and the key, but I don't need it 'cause that's what I be usin' the window fer!
[action]
They said west... I don't remember the numbers.
[He's never had to worry about addresses. Even when he arrived in LA, the only thing he had to know was "Hyperion Hotel." No numbers or street names necessary.]
[action]
Well yer in luck, 'cause West is where they be puttin' me too! Don' quite know it like the back o' me hand, but I know it better than I do the other three towers!
Maybe we're neighbors!
[action]
Yeah? You think we might be?
[Yeah, no idea. He has no clue what the number was. He'll figure it out eventually.]
... I might have to stop by, if I start sleeping there.
[Maybe. You're still a demon. But you seem kind of okay. Like Lorne. Still an evil thing, but a really friendly one.]
[action]
[Does this look like an evil face to you, Connor? Does it?]
We might as well start headin' that way, anyway, 'n see if ye remember the number on the way, I s'pose.
[action]
[He examines his device with interest for a moment. And come on, Jin, you have a horn, he's damaged, it's a problem!
Considering Jin's offer, he nods.]
... okay. Let's go. Maybe I will.
[It would be nice to know.
Just in case.]
[action]
Sigh. Okay, I guess. He'll win him over sooner or later though!]
Brilliant! And ain't no reason t'be afraid o' any spooks jumpin' out t'getcha with ol' Jin around! 'Pon me honor, I'll not let any baddies get to ye.
[action]
I'm pretty strong, too.
[action]
Aye, I don' doubt ye are, Connor. Still, four eyes is better than two, aye?
'Sides, ever tried sneakin' up on the wind? 'S hard t'do, it is!
[action]
Sneaking up on the wind?
[He's snuck up on plenty of other things, but not the wind.
Sorry, Jin, following conversation is hard for him sometimes.]
[action]
[That's okay, Jin can talk forever.]
[action]
[Hmph. More magic, but... it didn't seem to be hurting anyone.]
... what do you do with it?
[action]
Prefer the open spaces, I do, and that's why. Bein' around people's nice and all, but the wind in the city's not very nice.
[action]
It sounds like you're pretty powerful.
[action]
In me own world, anyway. 'S hard t'gauge yer own power, it is.
'M also a man o' me word, though, so if I make ye a promise ye can take it straight to the bank!
[action]
He studies Jin for a moment. He's never known anyone to keep their promises. Not a single person.]
I didn't think promises were worth very much.
[action]
Yeah, can see where ye'd get that impression, growin' up in a demon world an' all. 'S why it helps t'be strong, too.
But the way I figure it is, I'm terrible at lyin', s'maybe if I'm as honest as I can be with everyone else, they'll be honest with me. Served me well so far, it has, and I don't plan on changin' anytime soon.
[action]
[He looked down awkwardly, toeing the ground with one foot.]
I guess I look forward to seeing what a kept promise is like.
[action]
[He grins so big that a breeze picks up around them. Nothing big, just enough to ruffle their hair. He looks over at Connor and brings it down a bit.
Sorry, Connor, you're under the wind's protection now, whether you like it or not.]
And many a more to ye, as well, I hope.
[action]
You really... think highly of people.
[action]
[Yep, surprise. He's old.
Well, young for his kind. But still, compared to like 17? over 300 is pretty old.]
'Sides, I like t'think I'm a good judge o' character, and I like the wind 'round you. It's a real shame ye got such a raw deal so far, it is.
[action]
... I've done some pretty bad things, you know.
[action]
[Hell, Jin is a little infamous, back where he's from.]
Don't mean ye don' deserve to have any good things happen to ye.
[action]
His father and the others at the hotel -- they were kind in the beginning. They tried. He took advantage of it, stomped all over it. He hadn't known enough about their world to appreciate it yet. Now that he had managed to throw all that away, he was beginning to wish that he hadn't, wish that he had taken the time to examine things more closely.]
I've never heard anyone say anything like that before.
[action]
That's a real shame, it is.
[He reaches out to put one of his hands on Connor's shoulder in a comforting gesture.]
Are ye alright there, boyo?
