Marauding Magic opens its doors!
Who: Remus, Sirius and anyone else who comes by
What: Marauding magic opens its doors for business!
When: All week~
Where: At the Marauding Magic Shop near the outskirts of town, close to the forest.
Warnings: Magic!
[Finally the big day everyone (at least two or three people, maybe) has been waiting for arrived! Today Marauding Magic opens its doors.
Come by and discover the wonders that lie within! Potions, books, toys and tools, things that are more sentient than they really have any business being and items whose purpose isn't entirely apparent at first, but they sure look pretty.
A fire that changes colors ever so often and chairs by the fireplace, the shop is inviting you to stay a while and discover more. Behind the counter there is a staircase leading upstairs. Don't mind any of the sounds you might hear from there, magical experiments can go unexpected ways at times.
Perched on top of the counter sits an owl, watching everything that is going on, sometimes by turning his head 180 degrees, as owls do. Better don't shop-lift, that beak is sharp.
When you enter, a chime follows as the door closes. It won't be long until a wizard or two appears. Welcome to Marauding Magic, prepare to be charmed.]
[ooc: Come enter the shop and fulfill your dreams and secret desires! Or just have a nice chat with the chaps running the place. Either way, come on in!]

Sure.
[She heads towards the staircase, smirking as she lays her hand against the banister.]
VIP access, huh. Fancy.
no subject
[He pulls out his wand and takes off some wards they've put on the staircase, since he doesn't want her to end up growing tentacles or the like, then he makes his way upstairs.]
Come right up!
[By the way, ass is definitely still there.]
no subject
Yup. Ass is still there. Don't worry, everyone, crisis averted.
She slows to a stop when they reach the upstairs, curiously peering past him.]
Hope you're not planning to keep me in suspense.
no subject
It was a bad idea, he can't hold his liquor so soon after the change.
[The room is... well, mostly it's full of everything, with notes scattered over every available surface, stacks of books, a table that is mostly holding different kinds of woods and what looks like...like a heart, actually, and a couple of cauldrons by the fireplace, one boiling away.
In one corner, next to the only two chairs in the room not in some way obstructed, is a wardrobe, which Sirius opens with the use of his wand and a muttered spell. He bends down to lift a shallow dish from one shelf, turning around and carefully placing it on the table, his gaze focused on the silver liquid kept in it.]
It's a Pensieve. I made it...
[He pauses, remembering that they are from different worlds, even if she does know a lot about his.]
Do you know what it is?
no subject
[She approaches the Pensieve, standing on the opposite side of the table so that they're facing each other.]
I do. I remember this. It's for storing and viewing memories, isn't it?
no subject
[He smiles, although it doesn't last all that long as he stares down at the liquid.]
It's all Remus' memories. I'm not sure how it would work with mine, after...
[He trails off, one hand hovering over the liquid.]
So it's all him.
no subject
This is incredible.
[Her gaze drifts back to the Pensieve, watching the light reflected off the surface of the silver liquid inside. She never even considered the possibility of seeing one of these in person before. She knew it wasn't true of all magic items from Sirius' world, but it was nice that at least some of them weren't quite as sinister as what she was used to.]
So it's all Remus. Good memories?
no subject
[He is still staring at the silver, as if he could see something in the liquid just by looking at it long enough. He nods, smiling faintly.]
From school. It was Remus' idea to... He wanted us to stop not talking about...
[He breaks off and bites down on his lower lip for a few moments before letting out a snort and shaking his head.]
Didn't work, apparently.
no subject
Even when things are painful, sometimes that's when you need to talk about them most.
no subject
S'pose so. I just don't feel like I have any right...
[He shakes his hand and lets go of the dish, turning away since he thought of a good excuse for why he can and he doesn't trust his face right now.]
I still have to give you your Christmas present!
no subject
Mine?
[Her frown fades as she echoes him, curious.]
Didn't your fabulous dating service cover that?
no subject
For one thing, that was a free service, for another, due to your taste that would be the lousiest Christmas present I ever gave anyone. Even worse than when I gave someone an old sock, because I kept comparing him a house-elf. And that sock wasn't washed.
[He starts looking around some shelves, pulling out a drawer and finally finding what he was looking for. It's mostly black and silver, small enough to fit in the palm of his hand. Behind the glass covering one side, the inside can be seen, complicated gears and cogs.
Sirius holds it out to Anita.]
It gives alarm when someone you can't trust is around. Either it whistles or if you use that button, it will just start glowing, which is a bit more discreet, I reckon.
no subject
Hey, I had a nice time that night. If you find my taste so questionable, maybe now you'll think twice before shoving me off on dates!
[Maybe next time, you'll go yourself, Sirius. The grin fades slightly when he turns around, though she's still smiling as she gingerly accepts the gift.]
For someone in my line of work, this is perfect. Thank you. I'll be sure to keep it on me.
[She looks up at him, appreciative.]
Did you make this, too?
no subject
[He hands it over then grins with a shrug.]
They don't exactly sell these anywhere around here. So, yes, I made it. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, Anita. Glad I got to meet you.
no subject
I think I'll be avoiding the subject altogether for awhile. I don't need to be dating. I've got other things to do -- busy down at the precinct, you know?
[Her disinterest in actively seeking that sort of thing is nothing new, at least.]
It's perfect. Really.
[She smiles again, warmly, looking just a little bit touched.]
Happy New Year, Sirius. I'm glad I got to meet you, too. It's been an experience.
no subject
[He laughs and tilts his head to the side.]
'Experience', huh? I'll just do my ego some good and figure you mean a good experience.
no subject
[That's less than helpful, really.]
But various things. And a lot of paperwork. I'm sure your Ministry has plenty of that, too.
[She grins at him in reply as he laughs.]
Not that your ego really needs to be fed, but yes, of course it's a good experience.
no subject
[Also sounds exciting, so now he is stuck between that and worrying for her.]
It does. I'd have been a terrible auror outside of war-times, paperwork is just not my thing.
And you don't even know. My ego is about ninety-nine percent pretense.
no subject
[Her grin softens into a more knowing smile. Yes, she's figured out his game with the ego by now. It's an act. She's already seen a fair amount of what he's using it to cover up.]
And yet still so charming. I hope you realize by now that you don't need pretense around me, though.
no subject
[He manages to say it in a very matter of fact way.]
Tell me about the monsters you've dealt with?
no subject
[She'll leave it at that, the last thing she needs to do is stick her foot in her mouth again. She's been doing that a lot lately, even though she's had all the best intentions.
Instead, she addresses his question. It takes things to a less personal place for him, and that's good. It's helpful. But that doesn't change that she wishes she could keep him smiling for just a little longer sometimes.]
I'm not sure where to begin. Vampires are pretty common for me, which you already knew. Not that they're run-of-the-mill redshirts. They're usually the scariest thing I go up against, and that's saying something.
Lately, though... before I came here, it was werewolves. Or a wolf, and a wereleopard, I guess. Most of them are just people, but sometimes, they let the change really twist them into something awful. Not just when they're shifted. But all the time.
no subject
[He sits down in one of the chairs, leaning back and watching Anita thoughtfully.]
So you kill them?
no subject
[Her expression darkens considerably, memories of the events at Raina's farmhouse surfacing despite her attempts to shove them aside. It wasn't a night she was going to forget anytime soon. It would be a long while before the nightmares faded away, too.]
Raina and Gabriel, they deserved it. I wasn't just saving my own skin that time. There were other lives on the line. Not to mention the pack they tortured. Freaking sadists.
[And, try as she might to suppress it, she couldn't help but shudder at the mention of Gabriel's name. Shit. He still gave her the creeps. Would that ever stop?]
no subject
[He notes the shudder and puts a hand on her shoulder without thinking about it, squeezing her shoulder lightly.]
Sounds like you did the right thing by killing them. But, damn, I'm glad you're not in as much trouble here.
no subject
You don't know the half of it. Maybe someday, I'll be able to tell you the whole story, but I think it's still too recent, even for me. You love to tell me how tough I am, but there are some things that make even me feel totally helpless. Even when the people responsible are long gone.
