Marauding Magic opens its doors!
Who: Remus, Sirius and anyone else who comes by
What: Marauding magic opens its doors for business!
When: All week~
Where: At the Marauding Magic Shop near the outskirts of town, close to the forest.
Warnings: Magic!
[Finally the big day everyone (at least two or three people, maybe) has been waiting for arrived! Today Marauding Magic opens its doors.
Come by and discover the wonders that lie within! Potions, books, toys and tools, things that are more sentient than they really have any business being and items whose purpose isn't entirely apparent at first, but they sure look pretty.
A fire that changes colors ever so often and chairs by the fireplace, the shop is inviting you to stay a while and discover more. Behind the counter there is a staircase leading upstairs. Don't mind any of the sounds you might hear from there, magical experiments can go unexpected ways at times.
Perched on top of the counter sits an owl, watching everything that is going on, sometimes by turning his head 180 degrees, as owls do. Better don't shop-lift, that beak is sharp.
When you enter, a chime follows as the door closes. It won't be long until a wizard or two appears. Welcome to Marauding Magic, prepare to be charmed.]
[ooc: Come enter the shop and fulfill your dreams and secret desires! Or just have a nice chat with the chaps running the place. Either way, come on in!]

Can anyone use magic in your world?
[Making idle conversation as she allowed Sirius to lead the way.]
Like if I wanted to learn, or do you have to have it inside you first?
[Not that she wanted to learn, but that was how Lissa always explained it to her, that she could feel the magic inside of her but couldn't always touch it, like when she was on the meds.]

[He undoes a few wards to let her pass as he makes his way up the stairs. The room there is full of all kinds of stuff, notes scattered everywhere, piled up books, cauldrons by the fire and other signs of magical activity and research.]
It very often runs in families, but not always. Sometimes it skips someone or happens in a muggle family... Muggle is our word for not magical humans. Magical potential usually shows at some point before your eleventh birthday.
[He mutters a spell and offers her an encouraging smile.]
I put up a silencing charm. No one can hear us now.
TL:DR
[Sounding a little vacant as she cast a cursory glance over the room, brow raised at the cauldron but Rose made no comment.]
I mentioned before, when we spoke, elemental magic? Earth, Fire, Air and Water...
[There really was a point to this, Rose more than just sharing unimportant information as she found herself unsure what to do with her hands, fiddling with the hem of her shirt, tucking her hair behind her ears, folding and unfolding her arms.]
But there's a fifth one. Spirit. It's rare. Really rare, actually. The user can heal people, even bring them back to life... But there's a cost. The more a person wields Spirit, the more unstable they get like... Crazy, I suppose.
[She flinches as she says that, crazy, like saying it aloud might make it happen all of a sudden.]
I'm not a spirit user. I can't do magic at all... But I was brought back... I died and my friend brought me back.
[None of this sounds too awful, not the sort of thing a person would want kept a secret anyway, but of course, something as serious as being brought back from the dead does come at a price and Rose was still getting to that.]
When a Spirit User brings you back from the dead, you become shadow-kissed. It forms this bond between the user and the person they healed. Part of that bond means that I can always feel what they're feeling, see through their eyes. The thing is... When they use Spirit, when they become unstable? I take it from them, take the shadows away.
[Leaving her words hanging in the air, Rose hoping she doesn't actually have to say it out loud, that he can just do the math from that.]
no subject
So you become unstable in their stead?
no subject
Exactly... I sort of thought being here would be different but...
[But she can still feel the effects of Spirit, the irrational anger that surges, the often times lack of control.]
Anyway. [Pulling herself from those thoughts with a shake of her head.]
Objects charmed with Spirit, like rings, that sort of thing... It doesn't stop it but it does ease it a little. Is there something similar you can, maybe do?
[Looking at Sirius now and using all her bravado to act as though none of this bothers her at all.]
no subject
[He runs a hand through his hair and looks around, hesitating for a moment before catching her eyes again.]
Would you mind if I took a bit of your blood? That might help with experimenting. And can I tell my friend about this? If you prefer, I can leave out your name and who you are, but he's brilliant and we work together.
Do you feel any influence right now?
no subject
It's hit and miss back home so, I expected as much.
No more than usual. [Avoiding the first part.] It's always there. I don't notice it most of the time, only after... But about my blood? [Lips pressing together.] There's, probably something else you should know, in the interest of giving you all the facts.
[Different people knew different things about her in New Moore and yet Sirius and by association, his friend, would be the only ones to know it all.]
I'm Dhampir. It's, I'm basically half Vampire. Okay so not basically, I am. If you and your friend can deal with that then, sure. Tell him what you need to.
[Though now she was fully expecting him to tell her he couldn't help at all, Rose watching for any signs of fear.]
no subject
Hey, his best friend is a werewolf. This time there really aren't any signs of fear in him.]
Half Vampire? I don't think that is possible where I come from. Interesting. I think I want to try something, Rose. Not sure if or how it will work, but I want you to tell me if you feel any positive influence on you.
[With that he gets out his wand and casts his Patronus. The silvery lion appears in the room, facing Rose but not attacking her. Sirius feels its influence himself, calmer than he usually can be these days, happier - fueled by the memories he conjured up in order to cast it.]
Do you feel anything?
no subject
[Lips pressed into a tight grin.
She nods again at his desire to try something, Rose’s eyes focused on the – to her – stick in his hand, widening as a silvery wisp bursts forth from the end of it, the animal that took form before her making the Dhampir take an automatic step back., fear making the shadows that rimmed her aura prickle as it spiked inside of her.]
Ah… you mean aside from weird and inexplicable terror? Is that a… That’s a Lion, right? Because, generally? Being face to face with things that can eat me, magical or not... it isn't really good for the whole, making me feel calm, business.
[And yet as she said that, she felt the panic that rose up inside of her settle again, not diminish, but settle, as if something were soothing her, the tension easing at least a little as her eyes stayed focused on the – whatever the hell that thing was.]
no subject
[He watches her, careful for any signs of this having a negative effect.]
It's what I would use to hold powers like the ones you described at bay.
no subject
I don't know... Like, it spiked and then sorta, I feel more in control now but what? I'm going to walk around with a magic lion in tow?
[She was a little too literal sometimes, at least when it came to magic.]
no subject
[He looks at his patronus thoughtfully, then back at Rose.]
I think I can do something for you, Rose. Trust me.
no subject
[Repeating those words, Rose working hard to keep her expression neutral. She was trusting him just by being here, by explaining all of this. She had the ability to throw out flippant remarks, to share things in a way that might leave a person thinking she might be joking but coming here, daring to actually ask another person for help, with this? This wasn't trust in Rose's mind it was insanity, but it was this or risk things getting worse, like before, that thought sending a shiver down her spine and prompting her to speak again.]
Alright – But this stays between us. If you need to bring in your friend... Then I guess you need to but no matter what happens, I need to know what I've said won't leave this room, even... [Lips pressing together.] Even if you think it's important.
[She was silent for another moment, eyes again shifting to the magical creature, perhaps for a second a hint of a smile touching her lips. Animals didn't like Dhampir's. This made for something of a nice change, even if it wasn't real.]
Do you still need my blood?
no subject
I won't tell anyone, I promise. I won't tell Remus more than I have to, either.
But, yes, I need your blood. It will give me something to work with, yeah. I'll try to work some magic into an amulet or a potion that you can drink. It will probably take a lot of experimenting, but if I have some of your blood and maybe your hair I can do it without bothering you too much.
[He gestured to one of the chairs.]
Sit down.
no subject
Okay.... But, if you could throw away what you don't use. [Pause.] Please.
[Her manners coming more as an afterthought as she crossed the room and took a seat, shifting uncomfortably as she reached around to pull her hair up, exposing the tattoos that were inked across the back of her neck.]
If you can take the hair from the back... so I don't look stupid.
[Uncomfortable for a hundred different reasons and still her vanity remained in tact.]
no subject
[He held his wand for a moment before thinking better of it and picking a pair of scissors from the nearby table. With one hand on her shoulder he caught her eyes, trying to be reassuring.]
You're too cute to ever look stupid. Promise.
no subject
Heh... Do use that line on all the girls you want to take hair from?
[Her laughter a little nervous but if he was trying to make her relax, it was working, some of the tension easing from her shoulders.]
Because you should.
no subject
[He is careful not to touch her skin with the cold metal as he cuts the hair, catching the few strands with his other hand, fingers lightly brushing against the back of her neck.]
There we go.
[Stepping away he looks around for a moment before putting the loose hair into an envelope and laying it on the desk, then he keeps rummaging through some things until he finds a small glass vial.]
Ready?
no subject
So just the cute, insane ones then.
[Trying to joke. Because joking made that last part taste less bitter? Rose appeared to relax when he stepped away, fingers brushing against the back of her hair, feeling for the bald spot that thankfully didn't exist.]
As I'll ever be... Are you... Is this going to involve needles?
no subject
[He grins, mostly to make her feel more at ease. Shaking his head he just holds up the vial.]
Going to draw it magically. It shouldn't hurt, really, just holds still for a few seconds and then don't get up immediately afterwards. You might feel a bit light-headed.
no subject
If that's your type I'd hate to compare notes on exes.
[Chuckling, watching him curiously. Magic was hardly new to her but she still found it, fascinating, and maybe a little strange.]
Hold still? [Grinning.] Yeah that's what you want to hear when somebody is about to magically make you a blood donor. [She nods.] Holding still.
[Rose closing both eyes, unsure if she really wanted to watch then, unable to help herself, cracked one open, like a child watching a horror movie.]
