Marauding Magic opens its doors!
Who: Remus, Sirius and anyone else who comes by
What: Marauding magic opens its doors for business!
When: All week~
Where: At the Marauding Magic Shop near the outskirts of town, close to the forest.
Warnings: Magic!
[Finally the big day everyone (at least two or three people, maybe) has been waiting for arrived! Today Marauding Magic opens its doors.
Come by and discover the wonders that lie within! Potions, books, toys and tools, things that are more sentient than they really have any business being and items whose purpose isn't entirely apparent at first, but they sure look pretty.
A fire that changes colors ever so often and chairs by the fireplace, the shop is inviting you to stay a while and discover more. Behind the counter there is a staircase leading upstairs. Don't mind any of the sounds you might hear from there, magical experiments can go unexpected ways at times.
Perched on top of the counter sits an owl, watching everything that is going on, sometimes by turning his head 180 degrees, as owls do. Better don't shop-lift, that beak is sharp.
When you enter, a chime follows as the door closes. It won't be long until a wizard or two appears. Welcome to Marauding Magic, prepare to be charmed.]
[ooc: Come enter the shop and fulfill your dreams and secret desires! Or just have a nice chat with the chaps running the place. Either way, come on in!]

[She nods once, moving along the shelves.]
Where I'm from, there are some differences. As long as you have an affinity for magic, you can study it, learn it. But for animation or necromancy, you either have the power or you don't. Even if you're predisposed towards being good with magic, you can't learn it if you're not born with it.
But yeah, simply put, it's magic, for lack of a better word.

But - [Scooting around to catch up.] - in theory like, anyone could have a magic affinity or whatever? It's not ya know, a race thing.
[Confirming more than questioning.]
The necro thing, is it common?
no subject
[She pauses in her explanation just to check, but shakes her head in response to Rose's question.]
Anyone could have magic affinity. They could have it and not even know it -- just be a little more sensitive to the supernatural and never think anything more of it. Necromancy is rare, though. The power to animate zombies alone is very rare, and true necromancy? Even moreso. You tend to get kind of infamous among certain circles if you get stuck with that particular gift.

[Joking to make light of it. She may be a Dhampir but she still had a knack for moments of special, the infamous day when she got taken out b a bench coming to mind.]
Stuck? [Yeah she caught that.] You mean you don't like being a... necrothingy?

[Anita shrugs in reply, turning her hands up.]
I don't mind it so much now. When I was younger, it was a huge pain. I was lucky enough to have my grandmother around to train me. She was a vaudun priestess, so it wasn't quite the same, but she taught me how to use the power in pretty basic ways. That helped me keep it under control until I got more training. Not everybody is that lucky. For those people, it can be an embarrassing curse more than anything.

I'm probably going to regret asking this but... How can something like that be embarrassing?

Remember my little roadkill parade about a month ago?
no subject
It was a little hard to forget.
[Rose cast a glace in the direction towards the man she'd spoken to earlier (Sirius) watching him for a moment through slightly narrowed eyes.]
You think they'll really be able to help?
no subject
[Anita follows Rose's glance towards Sirius and smiles, nodding once. There's something about that smile -- a brief flicker of affection that Anita normally wouldn't let slip in mixed company.]
I think so. Sirius and I talked earlier. He and I are planning to put our heads together on this one. He's brilliant with magic, though. You've got nothing to worry about.

[Rose would normally be the first to spot such a thing, spot it, call it out, maybe even tease the person afterwards but her head is clearly elsewhere, more than just concern about her spiritual crisis making her chew on the inside of her lower lip, which she would of course deny if asked about.]
Right... Yeah I just know it's different magic to what I'm used to. Though I guess it that fails I could see how it goes with the other dude.
[At least as far as the wards go.]
no subject
[Anita nods her understanding, folding her arms over her chest.]
It's a different kind of magic than I'm used to, too, honestly. Only ever read about it. It's kind of surreal to see it in action, but they're the real deal. Not to mention they're both above-average wizards. We'll have your crisis solved in no time. Just make sure you don't hold back any details about what's going on.
no subject
Right... otherwise, it might not work.
[Sounding a little distant, shaking her head and pulling up a smile, forced though it was.]
Magic. Makes me kinda nervous.
[Ready with a lie to explain herself.]
no subject
[However, Anita doesn't miss these sorts of things easily, and levels an expectant look at her roommate.]
What happened with you and magic, then?
no subject
[Forcing out a short back of laughter, finding a tight grin.]
I've just seen what it can do. Ended up on the wrong side of a charm or two. A Lust charm that might have involved me and my mentor. It was... Awkward.
[Not a lie exactly, that had happened, she just opted to not go for the whole and extended truth.]
no subject
[Anita gives another reserved smile as she glances at the nearest set of shelves]
I mean, you've read Harry Potter, right?
no subject
[No, she's not even joking a little bit, Rose's nose wrinkling as her eyes lifted to meet Anita's.]
Yeah I don't really read a lot... or ya know, at all. Not if I can help it anyway.
no subject
She's not exactly the queen of pop culture, but how did you get away with not knowing anything about Harry Potter?]
You've seriously never heard of this series? It's kind of everywhere.
