Who: Sora and you!
What: Like, is any of this for real? Sora emerges from the hospital, a bit dazed and confused and trying to figure out what sort of dream world he's stumbled onto. Or if it's even a dream.
When: Sunday afternoon.
Where: Immediate area surrounding the hospital and probably other areas as Sora wanders!
Warnings: None yet!

The past few days — wait, was it days or hours? or neither? — have not really been all that kind to Sora.

But dreams have a habit of meandering from one point to the next, of managing to appear significant and impotent at the same time, don't they? As he'd run through the sidelong pathways and skewed buildings of The World That Never Was, Sora'd bumped into too many familiar faces — and the ones he didn't recognize, he thought he should have.

And then, "It has to be him." And then, before he could consider it further, he was shuffled along to much less familiar faces. Or were the two who stood before him in place of his best friends really that unfamiliar?

And then he woke up.

Honestly, Sora hadn't really absorbed much about what he'd been told in the hospital. He's pretty sure he had asked questions, maybe he had shrugged his shoulders and commented on how he needed to make sure his friends were okay. That part he remembers well enough, though now, as he stepped carefully down the street, peering into buildings and glancing around corners and maybe stopping along the way to ask passersby for directions, he really had two things on his mind.

Well, all right, two. The first was the fact that his Dream Eaters were missing, curiously. If this wasn't a dream world, where exactly in relation to home had he awakened?

The other was that he had to find Riku.

Right around when he got lost, then, was Riku's best guess. That made sense for why Sora was so disoriented. In fact, this was closer to what he expected after waking up from his dive into Sora's heart, but back then, his friend had bounced back more easily. Then again, there were circumstances leading to that: Sora was asleep for a while before he woke up again and had some distance from whatever it was that he was describing.

"Got it," he said. Where to begin? He wasn't sure there was a good place. At least Sora would be used to his half-explanations because he wasn't too good at that stuff.

"Let's go sit down somewhere. But don't worry. All that's done. And one day, you'll remember that." He hoped, anyway. The last thing Riku wanted was his optimistic best friend showing up battered and uncertain, and yet here he was. The truth was, he wanted to bring Sora back to his apartment and wait until he was ready, but he knew Sora didn't really ... work that way. The moment Sora got the idea of what was going on, he'd be right out there, meeting people and bouncing back. But he needed to get there first.

Riku figured that the longer Sora was here, the more that was likely. There was still a lot that he would have to deal with first. Xion, Roxas, Naminé ... Riku realized Sora didn't even know about Lea. Yeah, he'd have to catch him up first.

"Not first hand, but I've got a pretty good idea." Riku led him somewhere that had a bench right after responding, and once he settled on it, he relaxed, trying to figure out how to explain this. He decided that Sora could get some of the explanation later (read: anything that had to do with time travel), but he could get everything else now.

"It was Xehanort. No surprise there, but Xehanort was trying to confuse you and mess with you. His plan these days is to get a new group of thirteen people. You were meant to be the thirteenth. So, all that was happening along the way had to do with that." Riku knew that wasn't a perfect explanation, but it seemed to answer whatever Sora remembered last. At least, to him. He knew his friend would ask more questions, and he was prepared to answer them ... but it was better to begin here.

"Yeah, a new one, but with a more direct purpose than before: he wants to make thirteen vessels for himself. That means that the original purpose for the organization was to get that started." Explaining that was still weird—and to some degree, a little frightening. Riku knew, after all, that he was originally meant to be one of them.

In fact, he was just one step away from it. And it was his own choice.

He didn't cling to that thought for long, though, moving to answer Sora's second question.

"They knew about it from the start. They showed up right away and threw it off track. I'm not sure about everything you saw on your side, but I'm willing to bet you saw Xehanort and his minions along the way. Is that right?"
