You know, thneeds really are the most useful things! They can be as dense or loosely woven as you like, and if you're careful about it, apparently proof against dog bites. That was, um, less... exciting, really, but with so many officers being bitten, they couldn't exactly get me an escort to work. I'm all right! It just frightened me a bit. Something scared it off. I'm just glad it wasn't a werewolf.

How is everyone doing? Once-ler? Sirius? Anyone? Does anyone need a place to be contained for the evening? The police station has a few cells left... Night's coming on fast now.

[He gave her a quick, predatory grin, then stares out over the city, his shadows fluttering in the wind.] But of course, precious. Every vampire needs to know how to hunt. Your previous inclinations as a human mean you're not very good at that, but do not worry - we'll soon fix that.

[He glances back at her, smiling slightly more gentle, a knowing look in his eyes - as if anticipating some feeling or reaction of hers.] Those were good traits in a human, Sheska. That brings you no shame.

[Then his turns back toward the city, and his eyes narrow.] To the hunt!

[With several swift steps he comes to the ledge of the roof and unconcernedly leaps off, almost instantly blending and vanishing with the night.]

[Koizumi lands gracefully on the street below, lightly standing and slipping quietly into the darkness once more. She can only see where he's going by the subtle shifting of shadows, that patch if air shimmering a bit darker than it should - and she could only notice because she knew what to look for.

He slows gradually to a stop when he sees a young woman - though still a ways away - coming toward him on the street ahead. He drops back beside Sheska, speaking quietly.
] There, my dear, do you see it? That is your prey.
