[ Charles squints at him ] You really don't know. Fascinating.

I don't see how else you could know about me and Sherlock, unless you read what I wrote. But then that's impossible, because I was barely alive in 1973.

I'm not sure it's my place to tell you, Doctor. But perhaps you'd prefer this done face to face.

If you're still by the hospital I suppose I can meet you there. I don't really know the island well enough to suggest somewhere else to meet.

[ Retracing his steps back to where he arrived not very long ago is fairly easy. He's not totally sure why he's going, except he figures it's not a bad idea to make another friend or two, and he is interested to know how someone from 1973 knows about him and Sherlock - even if it is just more island funny business. He stands by the entrance, and keeps an eye out for the man from the video. ]

[ A somewhat shabby looking man wheels out from the hospital. He has the decency of combing his hair back, but he doesn't look favourable to first impressions. That being said, there's a gleam in his eye that belies his intelligence ]

Doctor John Watson, I presume.

[ He holds his hand out ] Professor Charles Xavier.

[ Shaking the other man's hand, John nods. The name sounds vaguely familiar, Professor Xavier, but when paired with the face of the man in front of him, it isn't really ringing any bells. He just brushes off the feeling. ]

Nice to meet you properly. But what is it you were talking about? Sherlock and I had become sort of... minor celebrities, I suppose, in London, but that was in 2011. I still don't know how you could recognize our names like that.

That's because the first Sherlock novel was penned in the 1800s.

Penned by Arthur Conan Doyle. They're extremely popular. They're even considered to be classics of English literature.

[ John tries to think, but there's no author he can remember with a name like that - certainly not any classics of English literature about anyone named Sherlock Holmes. ]

What are these... books about? What do this Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes do?

So you're saying that where you come from, not only are Sherlock and I fictional, we're... characters from the 1800s? That doesn't make any sense at all.

[ He rubs at his forehead, then sighs. ]

Yes, I suppose it is rather difficult to follow. But it is no less true. Sadly, I'm not well-versed in the theory of different dimensions.

Yeah, I'm not exactly well up on it myself. I thought dealing with everyone being pulled from different points in time was odd enough, now it just keeps getting more and more science fiction as you go along.

Personally, I doubt it means anything. Your existence is as real as anyone's.

Well, I appreciate that you think so. And really, they can say where I came from was fictional if they'd like, but I still have scars to prove it was real for me. One in particular.

Still, I hate that they bring us here, or whatever it is they do, and tell us that. Practically like some sort of bloody psychological experiment.
