I have been asked to make a statement concerning the confusion of the past week.

We ask for your cooperation in this confusing time; while the New Moore Police Department works to repair the damages from this unfortunate event. It is not the policy of the NMPD to discuss the ongoing investigation into the use of this as of yet unidentified hallucinogenic. It is at this time we feel it necessary to remind the public that New Moore does not support vigilante justice. Any actions viewed as such may result in the detaining and questioning of those involved.

Due to the nature of this event, no one has yet been deemed responsible for the events that transpired, be they real or imagined. No lives were permanently lost and New Moore will repair all damages caused by the incident. Any actions taken toward individuals under the perceived sense of justice for imagined crimes will be in direct contempt of this statement. Persons involved will be brought in for questioning as deemed necessary for the safety of New Moore and held for observation until such time as they are deemed safe to the public.

Speaking as a chemistry student, is there a reason why bloodwork on the affected individuals shows no signs of the chemical markers associated with halucinogens? Or why everyone perceived changes as the same, with no metabolic variation or peculiarities in immune response?

For that matter, there's no increase in the production of neurotransmitters or antibodies you would expect to find after any poisoning with a psychotropic effect.

My dear young man, I am just the Police Chief. Your concerns would be better addressed with someone from the hazardous chemical unit than myself. I was never quite as skilled at that particular branch of science. I am just the messenger of the information collected by those investigating this event.

If you would like to come down to the station and submit an inquiry I am sure someone more qualified would be more than happy to speak with you on the matter, once the investigation has been finalized, of course.

Until then, I am afraid the data gathered and all information pertinent to the ongoing investigation is strictly classified.

As it doesn't seem likely that the files will be released soon, I would like to ask what evidence there is that a hallucinogen was present. While I believe witness testimony (which includes my own) unreliable, even en mass, I cannot fathom that such an event can be explained so easily. This has happened before, hasn't it?

This will dictate the way you prosecute. You do understand that your reliability is at stake, don't you? If you choose to insist that this was caused by some nameless psychotropic phenomena, then then those involved could be held accountable for their actions, as well as those who recklessly distributed these drugs. There are laws to follow, Commissioner.

I will not tolerate false evidence, nor will I stand silent while the truth is withheld.
