(no subject)

Not that I am making any plans of sticking around or anything, but, on the off chance people are right, and I am stuck here...

What's this place's policy on transfer credits? I can test out of classes, can't I?

I love learning as much as the next guy but I would really rather not repeat classes. Also, if I did consider assuming I am stuck here, which I'm not yet, but if I did. How bad is tuition? Are there scholarships available? What's the currency, here, anyway?

Oh, and I got kind of lost trying to find that park for the meeting the other day. I mean I know I wasn't exactly specifically invited and all, but- could someone fill me in? Did they figure anything out?

An eager student, hmm? If you do end up attending school I believe we will get along quite well. I'm Dr. McKay; I teach physics.

[Rodney is proverbially salivating.]

I teach at the high school level, but I can take a few college classes if it means having such a wonderful-sounding student. It is my pleasure, Peter.

I dunno about college courses, but you can't test out of anything in high school. Figured that out the hard way, just graduated though. But the good thing is college here doesn't seem too expensive. They deduct tuition directly from your stipend so.. honestly, it's probably the first time in my life college was even an option. I bet if you're smart enough, they can offer scholarships too. You can definitely test out of classes at the college level, since they're not mandatory. I know I'm going to test out of most of the computer classes anyway.

uh after that wall of text I should probably introduce myself, huh? I'm Victor.

Okay Mr. Experienced Islander, I've got another school question for you. Do they offer advanced courses as an option at the high school level? Is there some sort of test in option for those?
notvictorious: (Would you have loved me either way?)

[personal profile] notvictorious 2012-06-15 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they have AP classes.

Works for me.
notvictorious: (And you may be invited-)

[personal profile] notvictorious 2012-06-15 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey. Yeah, I'd be starting sooner, but I've got a friend who'd lose his mind if I missed out on a summer.

I.. had no idea there was a college here.

Interesting.

What is your field of study?
stretchy_pants: (glowstick of destiny)

looks cool to me~

No need to apologise. Its good to see such an interest in academia.

I'm Bruce Banner. I'm not affiliated with the university, but I did my doctorate work in nuclear physics at Culver University. I haven't... really been in a position to keep up on things over the past several years, until recently. I've been... uh.. practising medicine overseas.

There are tons of applications of nuclear physics. It just depends on whether you want to go the engineering route or the particle route, or get into nuclear medicine. I've dabbled with all of it, myself; as well as chemistry and biology. [so much science, so little time.]

There's no need to rush into a decision, if you're passionate about it--and studying one branch before finding out you prefer another is hardly a loss, since there are relations between the fields, and a lot of opportunities for interdisciplinary work.
stretchy_pants: (tell me another)

Again... please don't apologise. I have nothing to do in this place except read and listen to obnoxious voice messages from my acquaintances. [i.e. tony stark] If you're as eager to learn as you seem to be, and I'm unable to find a position at the university, I would gladly tutor you.

"Dorky" is relative. I'm sure my high school experience was similar to yours. And so far from what I've seen in this place, you're better off being smart. Or at least.. special, in some way. There are some things that can't easily be explained... such as the man who can throw around cars. [Since his own universe isn't connected to that of the X-Men, as his comic book counterpart's is, he has never heard of Magneto and has no idea who this Erik Lensherr will become.]

The scholarships are pretty good.

Tim Drake, Forensic Chemistry Major. You're Peter, right?

Well, at a minimum, I know they've got Bio and I know they've got Physics.

Actually, there's a really briilliant biology professor here; I can't wait to take some courses with him next year. Biochem, at least.
