Well, well. It's been a while since anything truly disasterous has happened to our fair town. Might we have gotten a reprieve at last? One can only hope.

Thank you to everyone who sent Ianto well-wishes while he and New Brew were out of commission. It means a lot to the both of us. But things seem to be more or less back to normal around here, so let's enjoy the peace while we've got it.

Gotta say though. For all the doomsday warnings I've been getting I'm not seeing a whole lot to hate. This is the first kidnapping I've experienced that came with it's own Homecoming dance.

I just want to understand this place. I'm not looking to leave any time soon, even if it would be nice to be back somewhere more familiar. It isn't too bad, but it would be nice not to have to fear something strange and inexplicable happening on the island's whim.

Hey I could probably get to like it here if they'd kidnap a few of my friends as well. Still. Island holiday? I mean cray-cray happens back home on an almost daily basis. I actually seem to be better off here.

Tim slid into a booth at the New Brew with his usual drink -- a Ristretto Caffe Medici with mocha instead of whipped cream -- and a faintly ridiculous pile of croissants and biscotti serving as a lunch substitute.

Looking to be in fairly good spirits, Jack emerges from the Employees Only door and spots Tim in his booth, moving over to join him at his table.

"Must be hungry. Night life keeping you busy then, I see."

"I slept in and missed breakfast this morning," Tim admits. All right. Nothing awkward so far. "But then, I slept in because I was up until four last night. So, yeah, you could say that."

Oh... I don't know. Little bits of everything, I guess. Whatever you want, really. I thought it would be a good place to study the plants, but also have a place for you when you come and visit. I know the building makes you uncomfortable.

You should see the truffula trees! I think I know where there's a small one I can bring. And there are some really strange flowering things, too. It'll take a few days, but I can fill it up! How deep is the soil?

This will be so much fun! I'll show you how to take care of everything, and I'll come check on them too!

The soil is mostly in pots and troughs, so it isn't very deep. If I can grow some small trees, or keep clippings or something of them, it might help me understand them better. There's no way I'd be able to keep a fully-grown tree inside the building, much less a greenhouse. [ He laughs a little. ]
