[The video feed comes on, and there is Kate. She's standing in the middle of her living room, which just so happens to be decked out in Christmas decorations. And she's wearing 6-inch heels.]

Okay, guys, check this out.

[Propping up the phone, she backs away and starts running laps around the living room. An excited beagle jumps off the couch and chases her around. After that display, she stops in the middle of the room and does a pretty impressive roundhouse kick in the direction of nothing in particular. Then she comes back and picks up the phone, barely winded.

Behind her, the dog is jumping and barking.]

Everyone is posting about their awesome super power discoveries so I thought I'd share. I totally figured out mine.

Look at this.

[She pulls down the collar of her shirt, exposing a scar right between her breasts.] I took something to the chest and survived it. That's gotta mean something, right?

I'd say it means you're a tough woman to get down, at the very least. You must have some killer survival skills.

Well, I'm not exactly going to rush out and try to dodge any bullets to test it, but you must be right. Thought I gotta admit, it kind of creeps me out knowing someone probably tried to kill me and I don't remember who or why.

I know exactly how you feel.

[She smiles grimly before dropping the camera to show the left side of her neck, hooking one finger beneath her collar and pulling it aside to show Kate the mess of scars there. They're old, white and healed over, but her neck and collarbone are nothing but a mess of scar tissue. The inside of her left arm looks much the same.]

I have no idea what the hell caused this mess, but it sure as hell wasn't a knife.

[Kate stares at the scars, grimacing.]

Burns maybe? Or maybe that zombie friend of yours wanted a snack? [It sounds flippant, but her tone is entirely sympathetic.]

They look like they're from some kind of tear. Too old to be from that zombie, but... maybe there have been others in the past.

[She holds up her left hand, as well, showing teeth marks and dried blood.]

An aggressive one bit me yesterday. They're real friendly.

[Now Kate looks alarmed.]

Have you gone to have that checked out? I'm sure there's a hospital here.

[She looks at the wound, dubious.]

No. It doesn't hurt anymore. It seems to be healing up well enough.

[Bad life choices.]

[Kate just stares at her skeptically.]

I don't think you need to be afraid of seeking medical attention.

[Video]

Would you trust any doctors on an island where everyone has lost their memories?

[Video]

[themuse]

Uh... [Kate thinks on that one.] This place doesn't seem that hostile. Other than the zombies but... With these? [She gestures to her device.] Pretty sure if someone was out to get us, they would've gone after us already.

Or this whole thing could be an experiment of theirs.

[She raises an eyebrow. Yeah, Kate. What about that?]

[Kate nods.]

In which case they are already experimenting on us, so I still don't think you're in any danger if you go find a bandaid.

Fine. I'll get something to wrap it in a few.

You're not gonna do anything about it, are you?

Some part of you must remember me better than you think you do.

Yeah, apparently. [She rolls her eyes.] I found some gauze in one of our cabinets here. That's better than nothing if you're up for it.

[She looks reluctant, but...]

I guess it wouldn't suck to keep it from getting infected.

Well, well. Even without memories, looks like you're the nurturing type.

[Kate shrugs.]

Could be. Or I could be a frigid ice queen and I just don't remember it.

But I do live my little sister so I guess that says something. I feel like looking out for people is a better choice in this specific scenario, anyway.

I agree, seeing as everyone's in the same boat and all.

Almost everyone. I got the impression there are a few people who still have their memories, but they don't seem really forthcoming.

Enough to give out names here and there, but I haven't heard much else from them. Maybe they just don't want to send people who have lost their memories into shock.
