[The video feed comes on, and there is Kate. She's standing in the middle of her living room, which just so happens to be decked out in Christmas decorations. And she's wearing 6-inch heels.]

Okay, guys, check this out.

[Propping up the phone, she backs away and starts running laps around the living room. An excited beagle jumps off the couch and chases her around. After that display, she stops in the middle of the room and does a pretty impressive roundhouse kick in the direction of nothing in particular. Then she comes back and picks up the phone, barely winded.

Behind her, the dog is jumping and barking.]

Everyone is posting about their awesome super power discoveries so I thought I'd share. I totally figured out mine.

I don't think I have a kid. I think I would know if I had a kid. But maybe not. What's your name?

Did you have a key to the room? Because if you did it's probably yours. Or Dave is your roommate. I'm Kate, I think.

You're like a superhero! [Pause.] I think.

You know, if I have super powers, and you're my sister, you probably have super powers too. I'm pretty sure that's how that works.

Really? Do you think so? What do you think mine would be? I don't feel like I have super powers...

[themuse]

Neither did I, until I put on heels. You might be a ninja, too. But you'll never know until you try... [She grins and slips off one of the heels and dangles it towards Sheska, teasing her.]

[She leans back away from it, eyeing it apprehensively.] ...I could also break my ankle in those things. They look amazing on you, but I think I would just fall over.

[themuse]

Maybe. [She thinks on that.] If I'm the cool older sister with the awesome superpowers, maybe you are the brainy younger sister who makes my cool toys?

Pretty impressive footwork, there.

Look at this.

[She pulls down the collar of her shirt, exposing a scar right between her breasts.] I took something to the chest and survived it. That's gotta mean something, right?

I'd say it means you're a tough woman to get down, at the very least. You must have some killer survival skills.

Well, I'm not exactly going to rush out and try to dodge any bullets to test it, but you must be right. Thought I gotta admit, it kind of creeps me out knowing someone probably tried to kill me and I don't remember who or why.

I know exactly how you feel.

[She smiles grimly before dropping the camera to show the left side of her neck, hooking one finger beneath her collar and pulling it aside to show Kate the mess of scars there. They're old, white and healed over, but her neck and collarbone are nothing but a mess of scar tissue. The inside of her left arm looks much the same.]

I have no idea what the hell caused this mess, but it sure as hell wasn't a knife.

[Kate stares at the scars, grimacing.]

Burns maybe? Or maybe that zombie friend of yours wanted a snack? [It sounds flippant, but her tone is entirely sympathetic.]

I kinda thought it was, too. At least I don't have to feel bad about being left out.

Super powers?

Hmm, I haven't noticed anything... All I have is this bow, and I don't think I use it very often.

[themuse]

Why don't you think you use it often?

It seems a little too... pristine. And it doesn't feel terribly familiar in my hands, nor do I have any strong instincts related to using it when threatened. There are no calluses on my hands - a bunch of little things like that.

[themuse]

[Kate nods.] Fair enough. Maybe it's just a decoration. Or maybe you were getting ready to take lessons.

Hard to say. Perhaps I've taken lessons but don't find myself in a situation where I'd have to use it very often.

[His smile turns amused.]

Or perhaps I'm just not very good at it. Who knows?
