Never seen death be anything but permanent before.

Normally, dead is dead, but if there's something preternatural involved, that isn't always the case.

Still, if you mean someone who died a pretty straightforward death, no magic involved? Yeah. Normally, in my experience, they're not coming back without some form of necromancy, and even then it's only very temporary.

As for the island, I'm not sure. I've heard the rumor, too, but I've only been here a couple of months. It could be true. I wouldn't put it past this place.

It's a bit more than a rumor for me. My best mate from back home is here, I just can't let go of the thought that it's some really unpleasant hoax this island is trying to pull on me and I'd like to be able to put that one to rest.

The way I understand it, sometimes people here have different memories that imply they might have come from different points in time, even if they're from the same place. Is it possible that he came here before his death?

Add "right before my eyes" to that and it clears things up even more.

He seems pretty adamant about being dead, actually. Seems like the last thing he remembers is the fire.

Does he seem to be himself, though? Suspicions aside? Any noticeable differences?

No, he's Creedy all the way through far as I can tell.

Maybe it's just one of those situations where we shouldn't be looking a gifthorse in the mouth.

Except for the part where not having a solid answer would drive me crazy, personally.

He's... very important. [ To put it mildly. ] I won't have anyone playing games with that.

That's fair enough. But if he's so important, maybe focus on being glad that he's here? This place plays games with us sometime, but I don't think this is one of them.

I am.

There's just other things I need to consider as well.

There are people who have been here longer than me that might have more to say on this. I do see where you're coming from. Seeing anyone come back from the dead can be a real shock, and with this place in the mix... I can't blame you for having doubts.

But I don't think this is one of New Moore's tricks, for what it's worth.

I tend to speak my mind a lot, admittedly. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes not so much, but I'm glad if it helps to add even a little bit of perspective.
