[The video turns on to show a very young, girl with brown hair parted down the center and white bangs. There's dark eye shadow and lipstick on her wearing a black tank top with a faded sweater over it with the sleeves off her shoulders and going down to her wrists. Her shoulders are exposed whereas her hands are gloved.

There's no mistaking the serious expression on her face. She's not pleased in the least.]

This is gettin' old very fast. Someone better start talkin'.

[There's a flicker of surprise in her eyes. He's being helpful, but why? They're not on good or bad terms, but it's still suspicious.]

[The feed ends there with her talking to others before getting back to the hotel. She'll be waiting in the lobby.]

[He is, in fact, early, and just a little out of breath, scanning the crowd for her while keeping his best poker face.

When he sees her, he tips her a wry, casual salute, and saunters over towards her.]

Didn't leave you too long, I hope.

[She's expecting him to be on time, maybe a little late, but nope he's there. And he's taller and older. Rogue stays cool, giving him a once over.]

No, wasn't waitin' long. [A beat, this might get awkward quickly.]

So you're part of the X-Men? When did ya join them?

The first of the twenty questions, is it? I joined years ago. Ran into Storm when she was in a bind, and the rest followed.

The Remy you know -- he's not on the team?

[Twenty questions and a whole lot of explaining. She's still trying to grasp the concept that Gambit is helping her. Hard to tell if it's free or comes with a price.]

No, he's on Magneto's side. Don't know if that's changed.

That's new. Especially with that, you got no reason to trust me, but...

It's not like that for me. I'm not like that. Not to say this boy has clean hands, or never made a bad choice, but on that one I'm innocent, for once.

[He's not the only one confused on that issue. Magneto's not a guy anyone should be around, but she was misguided once. Maybe Gambit would come to his senses and join them. Or if anything, not be an enemy.]

Tch, that's for sure. [Though some small part of her, against her better judgement, does trust him.]

He's used people, she's not surprised that. He has that charm about him to make any woman do what he says. But his last words...they reach her, persuading her to lower her guard. Her head is bowed for a moment before looking back up and brushing her bangs out of her face.]

[Almost entirely joking, but there's a thread of honesty to it.]

[The honesty in his voice is what she catches. He's always joking, or trying to charm her. Maybe he's doing a bit of both, but what's....the deal between them? Him and the Rogue he knows?]

Thanks for comfirmin' that. Craziness runs in the family. [There's a twinge of sarcasm in her voice. Her mother is Mystique and Kurt's her brother in a way...so yes, craziness is in her family, including her X-Men family.]

Are you an' me...a team or somethin'? [Or...were they romantically involved?]

That's a long, complicated tale, cherie. Years long. We both been on the X-Men a long time where I come from. We fight, and maybe you don't trust me that well all the time, and maybe sometimes you're right.

I know your family pretty well. Mystique, she never like me, but we work together a time or two. She don't approve of me, but I still have skills she can use.

[He looks away a moment.]

Hard to know what to say. Things that meant a lot to me sound pretty strange to you, I think. Your Remy and me, we must be different people, if he never...

[To some extent, that's a matter of interpretation, but he believes it, entirely. Even when he's sold out the X-Men, he did it to help or protect her. Even when he lied to her, he did it out of love. That's as honest as he can be right now, and he doesn't even consider it less than honest, in context. He's never cheated on her, never sold her out, never given up hope no matter how bitter things got, no matter whether they were together or not.]

[The Gambit she knew and the one in front of her they were the same. They were both thieves. The Gambit she knew, the teen with the captivating red eyes, knew what to say to get her to go along, played her like a puppet, but she understood. You two are nearly the same. He's a thief, seemingly loyal to Magneto enough to be part of his Acolytes, but suppose not. We fought one another, came out as a draw and didn't see each other for a while. Not until his dad got kidnapped and needed me to get 'im out.

[A pause as she forces herself to talk about her mother.] I hate Mystique. For lyin' to me, for tryin' ta use me and everything. I never want to have a relationship with that woman. [Even in all that anger there's traces of hurt in her voice.]

[There's an urgency of tightness and urgency in his voice.]
