This is far too short. What was I thinking? [She tugs on the hem, biting her lip.] Maybe if I wore a skirt with it, but would that get in the way of the tail?

[And she turns to look at said tail, unaware that all of her motions are being recorded.]

Merlin, tights would be better than nothing...

I can't argue with that. I imagine they were miserable to the very end.

[That's what happens to bitter people. They stew in their bitterness and eventually succumb to it.]

I've been proud of him since before he was born. He was always a good baby.

[And she misses him dearly. Her little dark haired son who would cling to her hair before he fell asleep.]

I'd reckon so, with both sons turning out to be failures.

He might turn up here. And he'd be so happy to see you.

[It's really the only thing he can say to this. She won't get to see her son grow up and he can't help but blame himself.]

I hope he turns up here. We can really smother him like he deserves.

[And if Harry arrives, she will make a point of including Sirius in the parenting. It was always meant to be a group thing - like a pack. That way Harry always had someone to turn to if he was in trouble.]

I should feel sorry for the lad, but I think the way I know him, he won't mind at all, long as you're there.

I wish I could have been there for real, for him. It doesn't sound as if I did a good job, overall. Not that he said so.

They shouldn't have. That was their - our - near-sightedness. I'm glad James broke through that mold.

As for what they think now... [She looks down, sighing.] You were amazing for us, Sirius. You did everything you could. I hope you can remember that and I hope it brings you comfort. We love you.
